We ordered a wood burning furnace to put in the basement of our new house, before we left to go to Ohio for Christmas.
It came this week! Yay!
We My guys, wheeled it into the basement.
Yes, it was a beautiful day in southwest Kansas!
Ready to go…
Hardworking helper..
Made it in!!
the fan…(this picture is for you, Dad-don’t know how great it is, but I know you like the details!)
checking it out …
And, thanks to some help from some friends, my husband got it set in place and then was able to get it ready to go. Very thankful for people that are willing to give a hand, because moving Woodchuck required not only a couple of hands, but some strong backs-he’s not exactly a cream puff.
Now for the furnace guy to come and finish our ductwork and put in our regular furnace…
What do you heat your house with and what do you like about it?
I’m looking forward to having a house with ductwork. Our house now has no idea what ductwork is!
Oh, and did you notice the poker hanging behind the furnace? We were impressed to find it when we unpackaged the stove. Nope, it doesn’t take much to get us excited!
WOOHOO! How exciting:) Best lookin’ Woodchuck around:)
LOVED all the pictures. So glad you guys have a boy – there’s just something about a farm and a farmer and his farmboy:)
Ductwork is GOOD – VERY good. Our house knows what it’s like to have about 1/2 of it in and it very much would like to experience having it ALL in. All in good time!
You will be SO glad for that wood stove. THere is just nothing like heat from wood. Or corn. We heat mainly with corn right now and I love it. It’s warm and way less dirty than those wood pellets my hubby bought last year. He keeps saying he should buy some more pellets because they are cheaper. His absentmindedness keeps him forgetting and I don’t remind him. I much prefer my corn!
Tell Matthew I give him a big thumbs up – and Tucker too!
And yes, friends are amazing:)
“If a woodchuck could chuck, would chuck wood!” What a neat name for a wood burning stove! So exciting to see the progress. I didn’t know the basement door was so wide. How handy is that!? Did you get the new front door? Love the pics. Keep them coming.
No new door yet!
And my husband keeps calling the wood furnace a woodstove and then he says, “It’s not a stove, it’s a furnace!” 🙂 Thought I’d better clarify that!
We have a woodstove in the basement that really heats the house well. We also have propane but much of the time we don’t need to use it because of the woodstove. I love that! Your furnace looks great!
Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog!
That is just awsome, a walkout basement and a wood furnace! Now you just need dry wood storage close by.
