It’s Think Write Thursday over at Carole Knits!
The topic?
Write about a book you wish you could read again for the first time.
Well.
We all know I probably can’t talk about only ONE book!
Here’s a few I’m going to mention.
The Blue Castle. You can read my post I wrote about it clear back in 2012, right over here. I still love this book so much. It makes me laugh. It makes me mad. {Some people are SO frustrating and unkind.} It has a happy ending. I’m all about happy endings!! And it has some of the concepts of a princess/fairytale/happily-ever-after story.
Simply Tuesday. Somehow I read this book at a time when it really spoke to me and resonated with me. Did you know the Simply Tuesday coloring book released this week?!
Flash the Donkey. Yes. It has to be on the list. It’s so soothing and relatable. I love this book!!!
Big Mama’s books and Boo Mama’s books. AKA Melanie Shankle and Sophie Hudson. They both make me laugh and they both have writing styles that are peaceful and lovely to me….with a generous dose of humor……..{as I mentioned already with the MAKING ME LAUGH description.}
What book or books do you absolutely love? I would LOVE to hear!
Oh, the anticipation of opening the cover on a new book that you’ve been anxiously awaiting! Or the thrill of coming to the end of a great book and realizing you fell in love with the characters or the story and you want to open the front cover all over again.
Stories mean a lot. Stories matter. Stories teach. Stories make life interesting. Stories grab our attention. And we each are living our very own story. Isn’t that exciting? The bad days, the sad days, the good things and hard things. They’re making up our stories. No two stories alike!!!
I thought of this already this week. We attended a funeral for a man close to our age. I thought about story and we caught a closer glimpse of his story through pictures and memories his family shared. His story touched a lot of other people’s stories in a big and ongoing way. He will be very much missed.
I love stories. And deep inside me I want my story to matter. It doesn’t have to be in a huge, noticeable way. But this part of my heart wants to believe that, hopefully, my story will have mattered and made a difference for a few others.
WELL. I think I totally took a bumpy detour in quite a different direction than talking about reading a great book for the first time!
And maybe not so much either. That’s the thing with our stories. We only get one shot at this. We don’t get to re-write or rewind or really, even re-read.
It makes me want to REJOICE in TODAY and REMEMBER that each story does matter and not let myself get caught in my regret and guilt. My good, good Father keeps redeeming my story………….and yours! Hallelujah!
Happy day………………………and here’s hoping your week involves some good stories!!
