And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up His spirit. At that moment, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split.
With a loud cry, Jesus breathed His last. The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.
Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:
“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,
you may now dismiss your servant in peace.
For my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and the glory of your people Israel.”

Salvation! O the joyful sound!
What pleasure to our ears!
A sovereign balm for every wound,
A cordial for our fears.
Buried in sorrow and in sin,
And at hell’s dark door we lay;
But we arise by grace divine
To see a heavenly day.
Glory, honor, praise, and power,
Be unto the Lamb forever:
Jesus Christ is our Redeemer:
Hallelujah, Praise the Lord.
Salvation! let the echo fly
The spacious earth around;
While all the armies of the sky
Conspire to raise the sound!
Salvation! O Thou bleeding Lamb,
To Thee the praise belongs;
Salvation shall inspire our hearts,
And dwell upon our tongues.
Hallelujah! He is risen indeed! Jesus Christ, my Savior, my Salvation!
