Beauty in my week last week looked like….

Our local coffee shop + five lovely young women in our community who hosted a women’s evening consisting of ~
🙏🙌💛☕🧁
faith + fellowship
worship + words
music + munchies
coffee + conversation
hygge + happiness
“Lord, I need you, oh I need you.” Our voices mingled with guitar chords carrying lyrics up and around the shop and swirling into our souls.
My good friend was our speaker and as always, she brought us powerful truths.
This evening from Ephesians 2:10.
She spoke of Identity and who we are to God.

This Ephesians verse begins with For.
“In Greek,” she tells us, “This word meant Pay Attention. Paul wants us to really take this message in.”
You see comrades, we are His workmanship.
His handiwork.
His creation.
His Masterpiece! 🙌

Art by Ruth Chou Simons of Gracelaced
“Poiema,” she shares
“This is the Greek word workmanship is translated from.”
See it?
Poiema is also where we get our words for poem and poetry.
Listen. Pay attention.
We are original artwork.
Not only with God’s signature, but created in His very own image!
French artist Edgar Degas tells us ~ “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”
We, His art, create art.
Our creative works shine glory to Him.
Our art splays beauty into the world.
Our acts of hope push back against the darkness.

Art happens every day, in everyday ways.
It’s cooking and crafting.
Shepherding and sharing.
Writing or dancing.
Violin and harmonica.
Penning poems or paintbrush strokes.
Photos, quilts, ironworks, pottery.
Cookies and sourdough. Pancake stacks and fresh maple syrup.
Endless ways art becomes in our world.
Ponder:
Comrades ~ Who would you say you are? What art do you create that brings you pure delight, a part of the masterpiece God Himself made you to be? If you’d like to share, I’d love to hear.
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
~ Ephesians 2:10

Good morning! I would say I am-a daughter of the Most High King. I am also a wife, homeschool mom and a Mimi to our precious granddaughter.
I’m thinking about what I create…a neatly stacked perfectly folded load of laundry, a freshly made bed with crisp sharp corners or maybe it’s a batch of yummy pumpkin muffins with chocolate chips.
Thank you so much for the emails! I love how they always make me stop and think and delight in the joy and beauty around me! Have a wonderful Saturday!!
Thank you for sharing your reflections and lists. I loved reading them.
So much of life happens in the creation of the daily details. Mmmm….now my mouth is watering for a muffin! 🙂
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I appreciate you sharing your time and this space with me.
