Still thinking about Little Golden Books ~ The Boy With the Drum.
I love books that rhyme. They’re the best read-aloud kind.
I had this book memorized before I could read, and I felt like big stuff, proclaiming that I could read,Β because I could read/recite this book. π Makes so much sense to a kiddo! I just remember having this really grown-up feeling and confidence that I could read it.
I don’t remember learning to read, really, other than learning letters in the classroom and the rhymes that went with them. My teacher had this big easel type book thing with the alphabet in it. It sat by her desk and the pages would flip for each letter. I remember it at the front of the roomΒ turned to our particular letter for that day. I thought it was pretty cool.
Still reading various books. Slowly sitting down with Anne and enjoying each visit with her. π
It didn’t take me long to break open Audacious. It is from the Living Proof Live Simulcast. I’m not too far yet, but it’s good. Of course.
I am in love with the beauty of this book. Β There are also books like it on David, Jesus, and John. It’s 90 days and laid out with reading and questions and Scriptures to pray at the end of each day. I got it and Renae gotΒ David, at the Lifeway booth at the simulcast.
The pages are really neat and have a rough type edge that makes me think of papyrus. {Since I’m so experienced with papyrus.} And they have a ribbon bookmark. I like ribbon bookmarks in books!! If I were designing a book, there’s the slight possibility that I might put in a whole rainbow of ribbon bookmarks. I often have more than one place I want to mark!
Renae crocheted these fun scarves last winter. The yarn is so pretty and they don’t take her long to make. We’ve both had fun wearing them.
Here is a dishcloth Renae has started. She’s using a different pattern and it’s fun to see it emerge!
My orange dishcloth from last week is finished! Next in line, yarning along….
What is getting crafted at your house?

I love ribbon bookmarks too! i’ve bought books just because they have a bookmark!
I’m working on a pair of socks, a sweater, a mixed media project and I have an idea for a sewing project bumping around in my head. Great looking dishcloth! Hand knitted ones are always so much better than storebought ones.
Ha! Love the buying books because of the bookmark! π
What a great mix of projects you have going!
Our son LOVED Boy With a Drum. We read it over and over and over again, too!
I love knitted dishcloths and I learn so much with I follow the patterns. Lovely colors, too!
I like all the Little Golden Books with Eloise Wilkins drawings. They are so precious.
I only knit the same basic pattern of dishcloth, but my daughter has tried others and I love seeing her work.
Boy with a Drum was one of my favorites! Fun to see what you and Renae are knitting.
That’s why I had it memorized! π Are you still knitting?
Yes, I’ve been doing dishcloths. I left my knitting at Jill’s Wednesday so won’t be doing any til I get it back! ?
I watched my niece and nephew a lot when they were little and I think I can still recite. Today I`m A Grown-up and I’m a grown-up too. We’re very busy doing what we grown-up people do. There is a comfort in rhyme. Great knitting. I was going to get some orange cotton yarn last night but I was hurrying. Beth Moore is always good. Finishing up breaking free this week.
Beth Moore is always good. I worked through the Breaking Free study several years ago. I’m always inspired by her studies.
There is comfort in rhyme ~ so true!!! π
