We had friends eat with us a couple of times recently. I always enjoy setting the table and taking time to add a few touches that we don’t do everyday. Although, I must say it is also fun to make the table especially pretty now and then just for my family.
Anyhoo~ I usually want to add a bit of a centerpiece and I usually don’t think too far ahead about it. I’ve discovered that it works for me to just pull out a few things that I have in my home because I love them, and create a simple centerpiece. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or even magazine worthy. I just use what I love! Β And what I have around at the time. I really love fresh flower centerpieces, but that doesn’t happen real often. I’m not a bona fide gardener at all and I do live in Β Kansas where it can be quite dry and windy. {It at least makes me feel a little better to blame part of my gardening skills on the climate. π }
My daughter had gathered up a bunch of pine cones, one day at Grandma’s house, to use for some craft stuff she wanted to do. The pine cones are so pretty and make a fun touch for Christmas or just for winter. We put some a few places throughout the house and since I had them around they were a perfect touch to add to a centerpiece for our table.
I liked the way they looked.
I stacked a couple of small cake plates from my china cupboard, stuck the white china flower on top, spread out the peppermints and finished it off with the pine cones! Easy-peasy!
So there you have it…that’s the way I roll…simply using what I love and can put together easily!
Do you have favorite go-to decor items? Do you go with elaborate or simple or somewhere in between?

So cute and fun! I love setting tables! I like to use what I have on hand too – I will buy flowers occasionally and my favorite is to use my hydrangeas when they are in bloom!
