A week ago, this past Friday, the Life Counsel Bible arrived at my door for me to review, photograph, and share with you. {Pssstt…there’s also an Amazon gift card giveaway at the end of this post!}
I have a small collection of Bibles, several from reviews and giveaways, that I’ve shared here at ADG with you, my comrade friends. Each Bible has unique features and details I appreciate, like, and find helpful.
The Life Counsel Bible fits right in!
It has two ribbon book markers ~ a detail I always love.
This Bible is lovely because of its specific focus on healing, growth, therapy, and true counsel. {Hear me…..I know that the Bible and the Word itself is lovely…..but I do appreciate the work put into study Bibles with specific focuses or features for growth as we live out our very human lives and human experiences.}
The back cover lists it as having more than one hundred and fifty full-length articles from Christian counselors and scholars. Paul Tripp and Diane Langberg are two who caught my eye, along with Joni Eareckson Tada. As someone who’s grown over the last five years, to deeply appreciate the power of good therapy, the growth offered by spiritual direction, and felt the difference they’ve made in my life, I deeply appreciate the theme, layout, and encouragement in this Bible.
Another feature notable to me are word studies throughout the Bible. They focus on key words applicable to our healing and growth.
The Life Counsel Bible is a good fit for anyone undergoing, in the midst of, or moving forward in healing, processing, learning, and growing.
The Bible lays open flat and has room in the margins for notes or Bible journaling. Each book of the Bible has a Truth for Healing section as a preface. I especially like this feature.
The included articles range from controlling anger to family feuds to addictions to single parents to abuse to breaking cycles to chronic pain to questions about God to social anxiety and a whole host more. It’s very good.
The name of the Bible made me think of Laura Tremain’s book called The Life Council. It’s a deep-dive look at Ten Friends Every Woman Needs.
I appreciate the truth in both compilations. They point to our need for good relationships with others. Our need for comradeship and helping hands. Herein truly is where growth and change happen.

You can go here to the website for the Bible and check out more details about it and order as well.

Currently, I’m reading daily devotionals to learn more about how God truly feels towards us and how He wants us to turn to Him always, no matter how small the matter may seem to me. God always listens! I’m not sure I can offer any advice other than if someone is not handling stress or life events well, getting professional help is not to be ashamed of and is a really great way to support mental health. If someone is thinking about seeking counseling, maybe God is nudging them in that direction.
I am still reading Revelations and trying to understand everything it is talking about. Very scary stuff but just knowing one day He will return sets my mind at ease. I feel like Revelations as scary and horrible as it is offers us the hope that we can push through all the rough, bad stuff into a better place and come out fine on the other side. It makes us think about sharing the gospel with others before its too late and doing the right thing even when its hardest. I read a few devotions here and there and try to keep up with blogs and emails that uplift and revitalize my mind and that bring me hope and even a smile here and there. I try to challenge myself to just keep going even through the hardships of life like our family not having a vehicle right now and our transmission going out. I bike everywhere now as a physically disabled, single mom. Even my teenager won’t bike or carry groceries like I do or make runs to get things we need. I feel pretty alone but at least I have built up strength to keep going and never give up even when my knee swells and gives me issues. Also the mental issues we face both me and my daughter with depression, anxiety, ptsd, and more.
Our recent move took a lot out of us and wore us down but yet I continue still. Jesus and God give me that hope, that faith, and the strength to continue. I see others who have it so much worse than we do. I am one of the lucky ones in the fact that even physically disabled I rely and pray and talk to God who sustains me. And that is also the theme of Revelations, He sustains and gives us hope, faith and strength to keep going.
We are studying the book of Mark in our Sunday School class.
I’m reading through Jeremiah right now. Some advice I would give to constantly be seeking the Lord through prayer and letting the Holy Spirit guide your thoughts through the day. The Scriptures are a mirror so a person needs to be reading the Word daily and seeking to let it change him. I think introspection can be a good thing, looking at yourself and seeing what needs to be changed, just as long as one doesn’t focus too much on himself. Once you see what needs to be changed, start doing something about it. And get your focus off yourself and onto others. That can really help I think too.

I am not studying anything at the moment I should be and plan to soon.
