Open windows
and
Adventure
and
Shrieks
and
Laughter.
.
And 7:15 a.m.
with 63 degrees on the thermometer
and a cool breeze.
And my white robe belted around me feels snuggly good
and
I’m quite content to curl my hands around my coffee mug and
watch from my backdoor porch.
I’m mostly not-a-thrill-seeker.
My adventures are better found in a lovely walk,
in a chat with a friend,
between book pages,
riding beside my farmer in the combine,
lifting my camera lens to capture a frame.
But I giggle at my daughter
and
my niece as they take the plunge.
A pool and pajamas
and
an early morning dip.
I love the everyday adventures right at home
and
the ideas and energy teenager people carry with them.
I chuckle inside
and
curl my hands tighter around coffee warmth.
They flail arms
and
hover above the water on tractor tire tubies, slowly easing into the cold.
They stay out longer than I imagined
and
then retreat to seek out the warmth radiating from my hot tub.
