We put away our Christmas nativities and decorations for the most part, pretty quickly after we got back from Ohio. We still have a nativity set in the basement that Renae detailed and I just like it where it is and what she did with it. I also have a big nativity that has been permanently in the laundry ever since we moved. I snapped a few photos of our living room. That’s one of the special blessings of homemaking {for many of us in America} ~ adding decor to our homes. Things we love and use or enjoy and that add a homey touch and unique style to where we live. I’m thankful for this.
I’ve never loved the pillows that came with my couches. I got to go to Ikea for the first time ever when I was in Ohio and I picked up some pillow covers! Hurray! I’m happy about them. I had the flowered pillow. The solid and stripe came from Ikea.
Renae arranged the top of my coffee table with the stuff I had that I wanted to try on it. It was fun to see what she did and I added in my pink China lady that was my aunt’s great-aunt’s and the numbered discs that my sister gave me. They were used on my Grandfather’s potato farm to number potato bags coming in from the field. Each worker had a number and would put a tag on each bag he filled. My mother used to go pick up the discs off of the bags.
The preserved boxwoods came from my sister and mother. And notice my glass door knob. I love glass door knobs. This is one of the details from our old house that came with me here.
Toy heart-shaped tea bags, hanging on my china cupboard, from my sister’s Etsy shop! They add a touch of Valentine’s along with the few other touches throughout the room. Find them here!
What’s your favorite room in your home to decorate?

Renae did a great job on the coffee table. Those metal discs bring back so many memories. The main one is how hard my Mother worked! She handed out the numbers to the workers and then went down the potato rows picking up those numbers when one of us kids wasn’t there to do it. Then it was her job at the end of the day to sort and count all those tickets. When that was done it was time to figure each person’s wages. I can’t remember how often they were paid but I’m guessing once a week. Often Mother would cook up a delicious meal for several of the help at the end of a long, busy day. She was a hero in my book. And she was doing what she loved to do. Praise God for good Mothers.
I LOVE what you did with the tea bags! What a great way to use them when little girls are not playing with them 😉
Love how great your new pillow covers go with your furniture and the other pillows you have. I’m feeling a need to come spend the afternoon with you!
