I curl in my chair, adjusting and resituating to ease the aches and pressure that are often a constant nag in my back and feet. The first Monday in December found me praying over friends and praying a wonderful December and Christmas season for them and the people they love.
It’s a beautiful, wonderful time of year, but it holds its hard as well. And sometimes set against the joy and rejoicing of the season, these difficult things juxtapose in startling, stark contrast. Difficult relationships. Unmet expectations. Missing people near and dear who aren’t here. Hope dwindling. Challenging circumstances.
Yet.
The baby in the manger!!!! This is exactly why He came.
To redeem. Restore. Make new.
.
In shadowed stable, He came as Wondrous Light.
To crushed and crying, He came as Comforter.
For helpless hopelessness, He comes as Heaven’s Hope.
The strained relationship, He comes as Mediator.
In tension and turmoil, He paves the path of peace.
For the forsaken, He comes as Faithful Friend.
In wracking pain, He bears the name of Healer, Protector, Provider.
The anguished soul He finds and comes as the Lifter of our heads.
He comes, friends! The baby in the manger.
