Carole is hosting a monthly Ten on the Tenth.
This month’s theme is, “Ten Things That Make For a Good Houseguest.
{I do realize I’m posting ahead of the tenth. π This way I can keep my “tens” neatly categorized on Tuesdays. Ha!}
Here are a few ideas and things Β to think about as a guest in someone else’s home ~ Some of these are things I’ve done or *tried* to think about when we were staying somewhere else. Some of them are ways house guests have blessed us.
Tell me your ideas in the comments!
1. Help out with washing dishes. That’s something easy to do as a guest.
2. Show appreciation and gratefulness. Ask about their household habit. {Ex. Bedtime/time they need to leave for work/do they wear shoes in the house etc.} This helps me, the guest, show appreciation and regard to my host’s space and schedule and respect for their property.
3. If Β there for an extended stay, buy pizza or help provide food for a meal.
4. On the day of your departure, ask if they would rather youΒ remove your bed sheets versus make the bed. It takes about the same amount of time. Β If the hostess isΒ going to strip the bed, that day, anywayΒ to wash sheets, I might as well do it for them!
5. Leave a hostess thank-you gift.
6. Keep your belongings in your room rather than scattered through your host’s living space.
7. Folding laundry is another an easy task to help out with.
8. Pack some snacks and easy breakfast foods, so your hostess doesn’t have to worry about it. Plus, you have what you need and like.
9. Take a book and knitting or some kind of project for free time. Assure your hosts they aren’t obligated to entertain you.
10. After you return home, send some happy mail their way, in the form of a great, big thank-you note. You could always stick a gift card in too.
