This could be an endless list! 🙂 Storybooks for children are a whole lotta fun!
I have another stack of books waiting for another post and I know I could do several posts!
For today………here’s ten books I love!
No. 1
We had this book at my house when I was a child. I loved it and was delighted to find a copy in a thrift store when I had my own little children. It is written in rhyme {Yay!} and it’s a fun tale of friendship and adventure and no-place-like-home!
No. 2
Can any bookshelf for children be complete without some Dr. Seuss?! 🙂 Silly nonsensical fun and easy rhymes and a good introduction to words and words that rhyme!
Bring on the Green Eggs and Ham!
No. 3
More rhymes! Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb! This book is currently a favorite for one of my nieces.
No. 4
Guess what? This book rhymes too! 🙂 🙂 🙂
“Will you come? Will you come?” shouted Kerry and Kay,
“Will you come with us now on a trip for the day?”
My Grandma had this book and I loved to read it when I was at her house.
Once again, I was thrilled to find it at a second-hand shop to add to our personal collection of books.
No. 5
We have another rhymer! I was beginning to think perhaps I inadvertently chose ten books that rhyme, but not quite! There’s four coming next that don’t rhyme. 🙂
BECAUSE, you can do ANYTHING with a big ball of string!!!
No. 6
How’s a Mama Kangaroo supposed to carry her baby when she doesn’t have a pocket to slip him into?! I remember reading this book when I was young. I thought it was so fun! Katy’s determined to find a solution so off she goes to search for one. She really wants to offer baby Freddy a ride! First she asks the other animals how they carry their babies. When their methods aren’t offering an answer, she turns to owl, because “They do say that owl knows almost everything.” Sleepy owl’s advice is “Get a pocket.” Of course! Katy heads off to the city to see what she can find!
No. 7
I believe that every child’s bookshelves need Amelia Bedelia on them. 🙂
No. 8
My son went through a stage-at-an-age, of loving dinosaurs. We had some excellent books from Answers in Genesis by Ken Ham.
No. 9
Flash the Donkey Makes New Friends………..I love the soft pictures in this book and this tale of friendship mixed together with compassion, kindness, humor and helping hands! {Or perhaps, it is helping hooves.}
No. 10
This book is a wonderful teacher in the qualities and attributes we want our children to look for when considering marriage and a lifetime commitment between a man and woman. It not only considers qualities to look for, but turning it around it becomes the kind of person we want to aspire to be. The text in this book rhymes, too. {And YOU KNOW that is always a big plus with me!} 🙂
I love the thoughtfulness and insight put into it. And though it’s written for children, it reminds me of the characteristics that make ME a better wife!
