There’s one good thing about not feeling well-
it always makes me appreciate good health so, so much!
We all ended up with colds and coughs by last weekend. It was quite a cacophony of coughing for a few days. My son was pretty much feeling better by the beginning of this week, but he had started with it earlier than the rest of us. I’m not sure if we all had the same thing or if his was a little different. Or maybe just affected him differently.
It is rather a weird virus. Saturday and Sunday, I coughed a lot and used a lot of Kleenex. I slept really well Sunday night and thought, “Good. It’s not going to drag out too long.” Tuesday night my daughter came down twice in the night because her ears were bothering her. Wednesday night I woke up during the night with my ear bothering me. Lots of pressure in my ears and head and feeling like everything just needed to pop open. Last night I woke up with a really bad pressure headache and one of my ears still feeling very pressured. I didn’t do much yesterday and today isn’t looking a lot different. Usually when I have a cold or sinuses bothering me, the first few days are the worst. This time hasn’t been that way. I was able to keep going till yesterday. Something about all that pressure and pain just takes it out of me. My daughter seems very much back to herself with an occasional cough. I’m very glad about that. She has slept well except for Tuesday night. I am hopeful that I will soon snap out of it. It seems like the older you are the longer it takes! Kids are usually pretty resilient and pop back.
In other news, facebook has decided to be quirky again. No surprise there!! I have some facebook stuff set to come to my phone. Lately, when I get a text from fb and open it, it is blank. Nothing there. Handy. When I go into my inbox, it will tell me the name of the friend from fb, but no message. I think it’s kinda strange! Not really too serious of a situation, just quirky!
Our house has seemed rather quiet this past week, after three weeks of having my family here. Plus all the work we had going on during that time. We appreciated their help and all the local people who came by at different times to give us a hand. Our thankfulness can not be measured.
It looks like an absolutely beautiful day out today. Sunny and not windy-yet! This kind of weather makes us all anxious to finish our schoolbooks. By this point in the school year, we are really looking forward to a break. With moving and then having family here and working on the porch and garage, we won’t be finished with our school year for several weeks yet. We would like to be a little closer to the finish, but we needed the days we took off, also. Taking off time when we want to or need to is definitely a plus of homeschooling for us! And while we still have book work to do, our kiddos have definitely had lots of life lessons in the last couple months. Plus carpentry class, social interaction class, and organizational class!
Happy Friday and happy weekend…I’ll just be here with my Kleenex and my blank fb messages on my phone, hoping my ears pop open a.s.a.p.
I hope you feel better soon! And I hope you get your strange FB issues resolved. I hate little problems like that. They are just big enough to be annoying but not big enough that you want to spend any amount of time trying to google it, or call someone, or try to reset settings….UGH!
Have a great weekend and maybe your FB issues will magically resolve themselves!

fb has been quirky for me too. I get the text but only a few words of it. Just enough to make me really want to know what was said. it’s what we get for free i guess 🙁 So sorry you have been feeling ick. Not fun. ears are the worst. and sore throats. I’d rather have the flu any day if I had to choose an illness! We have been very blessed this winter and our illnesses have been minimal.
Emma has allergies really knocking her out today. I ended up taking her home from the garage sale after lunch and leaving her there. She feels icky. Poor dear.
Feel better and keep resting – eat some chicken soup – soak your feet!

Hope you feel better soon. Ears are the worst. I ended up having a tube put in my right ear last year because I had moderate hearing loss from recurrent ear infections. Try a nasal spray (just saline or if you can get a prescription, Nasonex is best) – my ENT said it’s the quickest and most direct way to get medicine to your ear canal. Praying it passes soon!
I know-I hate being bothered by ear pain. Probably a year and a half ago, I went to the dr. because my ears were bothering me. It wasn’t an ear infection, but my tubes were clogged up and it causes pressure. She gave me a prescription for nasal spray. It definitely helps! I’ve had some left that I use whenever my ears start acting up, but it will soon be all. I’ve been thinking I would try an over-the-counter. Thanks for your insight!
yes you do slow down whether you want to or not. And you miss communion whether you wanted to or not.

such a bummer! I hate feeling yucky and I hate missing stuff. I didn’t even feel like going out for lunch with my family yesterday! Today I can tell I’m definitely improving.
Hope you’re feeling better today. I have had the worst year of sickness with lots of downtime and I’m looking forward to staying well for awhile.
