Hooray! Boxwoods to go along the front of the porch! Let’s hope they can survive our hot Kansas weather. Especially this spring, because we are dry! Very dry. Back in April, we dropped Tucker off at a friend’s so he could celebrate his friend’s birthday with him. Then the rest of us headed off to a chiro appointment for me and to {hopefully} buy boxwoods. My back keeps bothering me off and on. The end of last week it really was and I didn’t do much. Here’s hoping it’s on the mend and will leave me alone for a while.
So, I had a chiro treatment and then we went to the nursery and purchased boxwoods. We loaded them up, hit the drive-thru at McDonalds for an ice cream treat, and headed home. It was a nice day out and when we got home, we commenced to planting all our baby boxwoods. Renae was great help for Matthew. I did a few things and took pictures. It was fun to see the boxwoods going in. I like having some plants and landscaping, but I definitely want low maintenance and hardy!
Matthew and Renae worked at installing dripline for the boxwoods the next morning. Now, we need to put down some edging and put in rock. Spring/summer has arrived along with farmwork, so other projects get put on hold. Plus, it doesn’t help if you have a dumb back that wants to act up. It makes you even less help than normal. {Note: I am thankful for my back. 😉 }{And thankful for all the times I take feeling good for granted.}

A lot of new stuff for us to see when we come. Sure looks good!
LOVE boxwood! So sad mine died in our super hard winter – will be replanting. Look into getting an antitranspirant to spray them with before it freezes this winter and spray again in late winter – December and February I read one place. Spray when temps are above freezing – helps the plant retain water. They also need frequent watering clear up till winter starts. Covering them when a bad winter storm is coming might help too – haven’t read that anywhere but I may just try it with my next batch. Don’t care for replacing my landscaping every other year!
