Favorite quote for the week………..
“I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I’m not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.” ~ Robert McCloskey
This quote nails how I too often feel! Ha! Communication and relationships and how we each perceive and hear and process words and what we hear is definitely not what I would term an easy thing. 🙂
One of my projects since the beginning of the year has been organization in my upstairs. It is still ongoing. It started with redoing Tucker’s room and then tearing out the other carpets in our upstairs. This led to moving things around and then moving them back and an overall stir-up of everything and THIS prompted the organization and sorting and throwing away and boxes to haul to Goodwill. It’s needed done for too long. I am quite glad to dig in and glad to feel like it. My back issues have definitely impacted any jobs that require a lot of lifting and bending, which is pretty much most anything that needs done around a house! Ha!
As for pages this week……………
I read this book over the weekend.
If You Only Knew by Jamie Ivey

This book is my latest review from B&H/Lifeway.
You know something I loved about this book? {This may sound strange, unless you’re a fellow book nerd. Ha!} But I loved how this book felt in my hands. It was a just right size for me and the cover has a neat texture AND I love the color of the cover. So there you go! Little happy things! 🙂
Jamie Ivey is well-known for her podcast, The Happy Hour. You’ll find her site right here. I have not actually ever listened to the podcast, but I enjoyed reading her story. Her book is very vulnerable and real. She shares her struggles and past cycle of getting caught in sin patterns she didn’t want to choose, but would find herself choosing anyway. I think most of us can relate at some level. We may not have been in the exact same trap or tempted in the same ways, but we all have our struggles and sin areas we need freed from. We all need to find ourselves meeting Jesus as Jamie did and finding freedom and redemption in His love and grace.
Her story is authentic and raw and not always easy to read in places. She calls it in her byline, “My Unlikely, Unavoidable Story of Becoming Free.” Through her story and life she’s learned to be a safe place for other’s to share their stories and pain and pits. She helps others because of the road she’s walked.
Jamie has learned to battle guilt and fear and fight against the letters she’d label herself with. She’s learned to stop trying to forgive herself and accept the forgiveness Jesus has provided for her……….and for all of us.
Jamie’s story has grown her in empathy and in holding out her hand and saying, “Me too,” to others.
She shares her story, not to say, “Look at me,” but to say “Look at Him and what He’s done for me.” And most of all to say, “Jesus is better!”
I am deeply grateful for stories and for lessons I can learn from reading other people’s stories.
If you appreciate real and gritty stories and you want a refresher on banishing shame and guilt, I think this book would be one you want to add to your to-read list.
I also have a dvd to share with you today! The Star. It’s newly available on dvd. This animated movie tells the Christmas story through the eyes of an array of animals, complete with humor and wonder. We haven’t watched it yet, but I’m looking forward to seeing it. I watched the trailer back in November right before the movie release. It looks like light-hearted fun for a family evening. AND, I think one of the camels is named Deborah! 🙂 🙂
