We’re opening pages today on a marriage book and a children’s book! Hooray!
And there’s a Bookstack Giveaway going on in my last post to celebrate June and bring on summer! Hop over to enter!
The Intimate Connection: Secrets to a Lifelong Romance by Dr. Kevin Lehman
I’ve read some of Dr. Kevin Lehman’s other books and I always enjoy his straight forward style. I was happy to have the opportunity from Revell Books to review this new book of his. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…..and probably again……..and then again………. 😉 whenever, I read a book on a specific topic, it helps motivate me in that area of my life. If I read about saving money or budgeting, organization, business or entrepreneurship, prayer, marriage, and on and on! I’m always glad to read about marriage again. I came across this blogpost, Marriage is Sharing, in my blog archives recently, if you’d like to read it!

Here are several of the things I like about this book:
The Intimate Connection has thirteen chapters and they’re each categorized and titled as a secret.
A few of them are………
Secret #1 Acts of Love Create an Unbreakable Bond
Secret #3 Preconceived Notions Matter
Secret #7 To Love Your Spouse, You Have to Know Who You Married
Secret #10 Feelings Pull You Together; Judgments Push You Apart
Throughout the book there are small sections titled Man to Man or For Women Only that throw out tips and creative ideas and the needs and wants of men and women. I enjoyed these thoughts and the format.
There are also two bonus sections with thought-provoking material and questions to ponder and answer.
This book is easy to read with conversational chapters and stories. It assesses a lot of daily living, our personalities, and what we need to invest into a working, healthy marriage relationship. Dr. Kevin Lehman shares different scenarios from different lifestyles and different paired personality types. It’s very interesting to realize a big part of marriage and relationships is seeing and knowing the other person and what makes them tick. It’s also realizing who we are and why we do what we do.
If you enjoy encouragement in your marriage, grab a copy of this book today! Especially if you also enjoy learning about connection in relationships and personality types as well.
Why God?
Big Answers About God and Why We Believe in Him by Dan Dewitt
I found this children’s book and the illustrations absolutely delightful! Engaging text paired with pictures full of color and animation and vibrance in a children’s picturebook, catches my attention everytime!
It’s from B&H/Lifeway for me to read and review.
The book begins like this……….
“This is Thomas and his dog, Dorothy. Thomas loves to ask questions. Silly ones and serious ones, he loves them all. Today starts as a silly-question day…..”
I like asking questions too, so perhaps that’s partly why I love this book. 🙂 I love random trivia, which probably leans toward the silly question category! 🙂
The questions lead to this humdinger question, “Why do we believe in God?” Mom helps Thomas and his sister, Hope consider this important question as she points out clues and the wonder of creation that in turn points back to God and His design for a just-right world.
The book contains a Parent Connection page with Remember, Read and Think sections containing Scripture and questions to dig a little deeper!
I’ve recently been read Sacred Pathways by Gary Thomas and I really like it! It’s very interesting and it answers some questions I’ve always had and maybe never even named.
A friend from hope*writers has an e-book for children coming out next week called Sacred Pathways for Kids. It’s based from the premises in Gary Thomas’ book. {with permission of course! 🙂 } It’s a lovely resource and I’m excited to share about it. Just as we’re all unique, whether children or adult, the way we connect and worship God is unique too. I think this e-book will be a great inspiration for parents as they direct their children and teach them about loving and serving Jesus.
There’s a quiz you can take here to evaluate which type your child may be and which pathway will bless him.
Projects. Hmmm. I don’t have any great, big ongoing thing right now. I’m actually trying to limit my plans and ideas with harvest and summertime approaching and possibly enjoy some downtime and good ole summer days!
May flew by and kept us busy with my teen nieces from Ohio visiting, {Yay!!!} and several graduations and a wedding! That time of year!
I had a girl & doll teaparty for my little nieces last week. It was lots of fun and I hope to post pictures of the table and food soon.
I have some Bible journaling I want to do, but haven’t taken the time for. I have sugar cookies I’d like to try for fun and I still want to make more handpies! My TBR bookstack isn’t growing any smaller either, nor is my WTR list!
{TBR = To Be Read and WTR = Want To Read}
I’m not hurting for things I want to do or projects to try! Haha!
I’d love to hear what you’ve been reading or what fun project you’ve been working on!
Linking up with Ginny for June!

I’m reading a bunch of stuff on marriage right now too! David Brooks’ Second Mountain sent me down a rabbit hole of chasing his research, particularly on marriage. Funny that your first book was a similar theme.
Wonderful! 🙂 So glad you shared this with me. I enjoy good marriage books.
