This is where I spent a few hours the end of last week.
Not just as a rider. I got had to drive it. I’m not really a let-me-drive-every-piece-of-equipment-that-you-own type of farmwife. Unfortunately, for my husband. Because I would be a lot more help if I was. I don’t mind hanging out in equipment with him. And it’s always lots of fun to ride in the combine. There’s just something about harvest. I do like-really like- our farm life. I just like being the farm photographer better than the farm machinery operator! 😉
And I will confess, it’s not all bad hanging out in the tractor as the operator. It went something like this-air conditioner on, ez steer on, ipod on, turn at the ends, ez steer on, keep listening to the audiobook I hadn’t been having time to finish, turn at the end, ez steer on, you get the idea..
No, driving a tractor isn’t on my “Top Ten Things I Love To Do” list, but when everything gets BuSy, it helps my husband out a little. And it makes him happy. And making my husband happy does make the cut for my “Top Ten” list!
What is something you don’t just love to do, but don’t mind doing for someone you love?

You make a great farm wife!
I DON’T like to iron shirts or fold t-shirts. But it makes my man happy so I do it. And most of the time I don’t even complain!! And honestly? I’m so thankful I have shirts to iron and t-shirts to fold. Cause I’ve got a wonderful man to do it for:)
So excited you have a blog… love the city on a hill reference. I despise paying bills and dealing with the money, BUT Nate begs me to continue. I wish that I could say that I do it without complaining, but I am not above a little whine.
Oh, believe me I have my times of whining too…
Every time I hear that you have been driving one of those HUGE farm tractors with a HUGE implement behind it I chuckle to myself and remember the little girl on the (very small) lawn mower for the first time. I can hear that little yelp that came out your mouth every time the mower got close to a tree or any other object. Never in my wildest dreams did I see you on a HUGE tractor!! God has a sense of humor, for sure!
I agree! 🙂
Just came over to visit from Jill’s blog.
Just last week Greg fixed up a GeoTracker to make his job easier. {He hauls poultry manure and then needs to spray it for bugs.}
Just so happens….that now it is handy for his wife [me] to use also! 🙂
That is handy! 🙂
Definitely doing the chores for my husband. We have sheep, cows, pigs, chickens, and dogs….and doing the chores is definitely not my favorite thing to do. BUT. He’s a farmer. Which means that for several months out of the year he’s not around to do chores. Which means that for several months out of the year his wife does the chores. Morning and evening. I try to be happy about it. But sometimes I grumble.
Can’t wait to read more of your blog!! And. I’ve never driven a tractor. Unless you can count that one time when I was about 13 driving the baler for my dad. And I almost ran into the fence. The end.
I’m in awe.
I think chores would not be so much my thing either…we’ve had bottle calves and they are fun at first, but I’m always glad when they don’t need bottles anymore. I wouldn’t be in awe…if I can do it, anyone can!!
Packing lunches. I don’t know why, but I really don’t enjoy packing lunches. But I do like to eat them. Go figure. 😀
