PURE EXCITEMENT!!
Everyone should open gifts the way my youngest Ohio niece does. She exclaims with excitement every single time. So much fun! In the words of Gru to Edith, “Never get older.” Ah, childhood.
And, What a couple of weeks it’s been!
All of the above, plus lots of other stuff and things I don’t remember.
And these major life events.
We welcomed a new baby niece into our family. THIS baby girl! She is as darling as all the rest of our nieces. {Of course.}
And Jesus welcomed my ninety-one year old Grandmother home to heaven. She was my last living grandparent. This makes my parents the oldest generation now, and that really feels rather strange to me. We were glad for Grandma to go home for Christmas, yet it is change and brings its sense of sadness, too. She was able to live on her own till almost the very end. My parents had grocery shopped for her for quite a few years and checked in on her and washed laundry. She had been getting around very slowly and then slower and slower and then couldn’t go anymore just a week before she died. She had decided she wanted to move to an assisted living and my parents had moved her and were working towards getting her settled in. Just two days after she moved, she started breathing hard and went downhill very quickly. My dad was in to see her on a Friday morning and she told him, “I just want to go see Jesus.” Just a few hours later she got her wish.
With the funeral, our visit to my parents for Christmas got moved up and plans were rearranged. Amazing how things can be worked out and adapted when the need arrives. We canceled some appointments, changed some things, bumped priorities to the top and pulled out some suitcases.
So, that’s a bit of a recap of the last couple of weeks. And lots of stuff I don’t even remember.
A reminder and glimpse of how quickly things and plans can change. Life wings away………..
Have a good week as the Christmas season unfolds. Hug all your people and rejoice in it all, come what may.
