Milo to cut!
A very exciting arrival! A new-to-me lens for my camera! I’ve wanted this range of lens for a long, long time, but didn’t really want to spend the money. My sister recently upgraded her camera and bought a new-to-her camera from a blogger friend who was upgrading her camera! Included with my sister’s camera was this lens. My sister already had one, so she texted me excitedly and told me she had a good deal for me! The lens had been dropped and has a minor issue, but I can’t tell anything with it, since I’m not used to how it was before. I think it’s a little slow focusing sometimes or something. I can’t even remember what the issue is supposed to be and it works fine for me.
So, I am all about trying out close ups! I’m loving having a lens that will zoom in much closer than my kit lens with my camera.
Hello combine! It’s always fun to take combine pics.
My husband told me on Friday to enjoy my roses! It was supposed to get cold, and it did!
I came in from riding in the combine to this pretty sight. Thanks to my dearie daughter. She scrounged around in the freezer and found cookie balls and made and sliced a wrap and had snacks ready for us all. So fun!
Speaking of wraps, it’s all about presentation. There had been a leftover ham and cheese wrap in the fridge and towards the end of the week, I thought, “This wrap needs eaten.” I knew if I just put it on the table, none of us would probably eat it. I sliced it into appetizer slices and put them on a plate. {Much like the above pic.} Guess what? It got cleaned up! I had to chuckle. But, the funny thing is, I myself wouldn’t have wanted to eat the whole wrap, but a few slices were just right AND more fun to eat. My son came into the kitchen right when I was placing the plate plate of pinwheels on the table. “Can I have one of those?” was his immediate reaction. So funny! I know if I would have laid the whole wrap on his plate and said “Here’s your lunch,” he wouldn’t have thought he wanted it.
Appetizer type and size food is just more appealing and fun to eat sometimes!
Brunch table ready ~
Wednesday found me running to John Deere for parts for the row head so milo cutting could continue.
It was close to lunch time, so I conveniently picked up a pizza pie at the little local pizza shop and brought home with me. I’d been going to make cheddar chowder on Tuesday and ran out of time and made straw hat meat instead. Bumped cheddar chowder to Wed. Still didn’t get it made.
I did get a blueberry pie and an apple pie made on Tues. I had apples needing used and I’d been wanting to make pies.
Wed. was just a topsy-turvy, tired day. I was tired and achy. Renae was getting a cough and she was tired. The milo was dry enough to cut, but the header offered complications. I headed over to the field to ride and take some pictures and as I reached the end of the lane, here came the combine headed towards the shed. 🙁 So, I took my snack for the men to the shed and ended up back at the house without riding in the combine or taking any pictures.
But, it did offer the opportunity for Renae and I to watch the video for our Bible study that we’d been wanting to and hadn’t had time for or taken time for. A cup of hot tea, a slice of apple pie, a cozy blanket, and we settled in! Love it when these peaceful moments happen. And thought provoking too!
Renae and I attended a ladies’ tea/luncheon on Saturday. It was lovely and yummy! A neighbor lady and her daughters and friends hosted it in honor of a missionary lady to Ireland whom they became acquainted with years ago. She shared an inspirational talk with us on “teas” from the Bible.
Charity, Humility, Generosity, Honesty, Availability, Hospitality.
These were just a few of them! I didn’t have a pen or paper to jot them down and I don’t remember nearly all of it!
She also shared a slide show of pictures of her home and the different ministries she helps out with us. So interesting!
A few other things from days past~
A Sunday spent with friends touring a cave in Oklahoma, hiking a few trails, and playing on the playset.
Matthew’s big brother cleaned out his closet and hauled over some everyday shirts for my Mr. Matthew.
Getting to cuddle a baby for a little when she and her mama stopped by.
We watched some old picture stories that I put together back when we first got our computer.
Not feeling like I got a whole lot accomplished. I had a couple of days where I just didn’t feel very well.
Miss A. and her mama stopped by a couple of times. We’ve had popcorn several times when she is here and she loves popcorn. The last time she stopped in, they’d probably been here, oh, about five minutes, and she said, “Popcorn?” With her cute little grin and terribly fun faces, how can an auntie and uncle resist?! We feel a little bit grandparentish when it comes to Miss A. {Especially since my whole back thing has made me feel like an old lady at times, anyway! ha!} She calls us Maffew, Debbie, Nae, Tucker and Poocer. {Although she is starting to say Cooper more often.}

Riding in the combine cutting milo! Hooray! We are done with milo for another season and year.
My farmer man was cutting milo right beside our house, so I headed out to ride with him. {It’s not every day that we can walk out the back door and go ride in the combine.} I almost didn’t take my camera with me and then I thought, “If I don’t, I’ll wish I had it.” I picked it up and slung it around my neck. I went to take a picture and………no battery!!
No battery=no pictures.
Might as well have left it in the house. I forgot I’d taken the battery out to charge. One would think that one would learn. I’ve walked out of the house so many times WITH the camera but WITHOUT either battery or camera card inserted. I’d think I’d learn to check.
Introduction to a new phrase that I love.
Soli Deo gloria.
Latin term meaning Glory to God Alone. Johann Sebastian Bach {and others} have used it to signify that their work was produced to praise God and give Him glory. So beautiful. I like learning these kinds of terms and what they mean. {Now remembering!}
