There’s this phenomenon of being a mother that amuses me, yet I enjoy it too. It’s that thing where you love the creations that your kids draw, build, or create. You are amazed and delighted in the creations they come up with. (And you think about how smart they are and wonder how they can be your child. 🙂 ) And I’d say it’s a wide spread phenomenon among most mothers…and dads too. But, that’s the way it’s supposed to be. I wish for every child to have parents that love them and teach them and think the things they do are great!
In this vein, I have some Lego creations of my son’s that I am sharing, cause, well, I think they’re great. I was intrigued. We have lots of Lego creations around our house most of the time. I think many, many of them are great, but I do not get them all photographed.
First up is this band having a concert.
I think it’s Casting Crowns.
And all the people attending…
Sometimes I think my son needs to work on the skill of patience.{unlike his mother}[insert large guffaw of laughter]
Then I look at some of these Lego creations and I realize he is working on patience and he does have it when he wants to. I would not have the patience for building some of these fragile masterpieces. I don’t even have the patience to work the piece back on that comes loose when I try to move it from my kitchen table.
A pirate ship that he built from pieces and with his own design. He has a ship built that came as a set. He has a couple of bases that are a ship and a boat that he has used to build his own. This one he did completely from Lego bricks. No preformed pieces or directions. I was impressed-I am the mother-and I snapped some pictures.
I love to see the things my children do and make and I wonder what talents God has blessed them with to hone and learn and use for Him. I wonder what life holds for them as they grow and as they think about a job and a direction and a pathway to pursue.
I love their creations and the photos and the memories we are making.

Wow! Your son did a great job! So creative and yes – patient.
We build lots of Legos around here! Well, maybe instead of “we”, I should say “My kiddos do!”
“Coincidentally” this video came through my blog reader today as well! It’s an animated short that tells the history of LEGO & those little bricks. I think that you (and your little builder) will enjoy it. http://youtu.be/NdDU_BBJW9Y
I have to say that his concert creation is my favorite!
I like the concert too!
And thanks for the link. It is fun!
He is a visionary–what talent to be able to ‘see’ the finished product before it is even begun!
I love Legos, too!
Does he enjoy wooden train sets? My kids love Brio and IKEA’s wooden train sets (they are interchangeable). I could spend hours playing with them–the kids AND the trains 🙂
I think he looks at his Lego magazines and uses ideas, plus his experience from building his sets.
We have wooden Thomas trains and I think they are the same idea. My kids don’t play with them as much now, but they spent hours with them when they were younger. They still play with them now and then.
I like kid’s toys too! 🙂
I LOVE that concert set-up! That is totally cool! you need to send pics of that to Lego – seriously! He is such a great little fella – love him to pieces!
my girls would love all those people – need to get that for them for Christmas!
The people are fun! Maybe, I’ll have to tuck that idea away for your girls for Christmas.
I like the concert too. When I saw it, I told him not to take it apart until I had taken pictures of it.
Twice we’ve taken our tubs of legos on potluck Sundays. It’s fun watching all ages working together. The first time the idea was to build Noah’s Ark. They came up with an ark abt 2′ long and multiple animal pairs that afternoon. The 2nd time was to make a nativity scene. It’s amazing how they decide to build with only a couple of hours to work.
That’s a neat idea to take them to a potluck. Legos are something lots of kids can do and it seems like all ages love them. I think my 12 year-old daughter plays with them more now than she did when she was younger. And I love seeing what they come up with to build!
I have a whole file of pictures (remember my recent blog post of B’s picture taking, lol) of Lego creations. My boys always want to leave their creations out and Mom always wants them taken apart and put away so we compromise by them taking pictures to remember them. My boys’ builds aren’t that elaborate but I do love the idea of getting them more people for Christmas…except we constantly have amputees around here.
