I took a Kansas day trip yesterday with my husband.
We needed to go to eastern Kansas to pick up our four-wheeler and an irrigation motor. My husband’s very youngest brother is an awesome mechanic and he had been working on/fixing both of these things for us.
We didn’t take the most direct route since we had some other errands we needed to do and decided to do on the way. We sort of rabbit trailed all day. It was fun. Except for the getting home really late part. We had decided we’d just make a big day of it and it was a big day! I don’t like driving late at night when you’re zonked out and just want to go to sleep. I am getting old. I just can’t stay up late like I used to! God brought us safely home and we are thankful for His protection!
We also needed to drive through various equipment lots and dealers between here and there. That’s just part of a farmer’s life and a farmer’s wife’s life! I have yet to find an equipment lot that is not bumpy!! I love my farmer and I love spending time with him, but as he can testify, I do get tired of bumpy equipment lots. They do not speak to this farmer’s wife like they do the farmer in our household! Target speaks much more loudly to me.
Freddy’s Frozen Custard speaks to me too. We happened by one at just the right time in the afternoon. JUST the right time!! I thoroughly enjoyed my Very Berry Concrete!
My sister-in-law fixed us a super yummy supper! She is a great cook. I always like eating at her house. We had Enchilada Casserole, Garlic Bread, Corn Chip Salad, and Peach Dessert! I did not lack for food yesterday and I think I metaphorically oinked my way home.
While I was waiting on my husband at one equipment lot, I posted a question on my personal fb page. I asked this question.
If you could have someone come do your cooking OR cleaning which would you happily hand over?!
I don’t have a smart phone, but I have fb statuses and comments that are sent to my phone. I totally enjoyed reading everyone’s comments as they trickled in throughout the day. My own little mini poll! The results from the comments I received were:
Cleaning-15
Cooking-6
Letting someone else do the cleaning totally blew having a cook out of the water! My vote at this season of my life was for cooking. I would gladly, gladly let someone come cook our meals. I feel like I spend a lot of time on food! And I am no gourmet cook! Maybe, I’m just slow. Well, really, there’s no maybe about it. I’m not very good at whipping through things. My older sister acquired all that talent! Cooking versus cleaning, I think I could do a really thorough cleaning each week and still have lots of extra time if someone else was doing all the cooking. Plus, it’s so much more fun to eat someone else’s cooking. I wonder if my sister-in-law would want to come cook for us.
On the subject of fb pages, “A Delightful Glow” has a fb page if anyone is interested. You can go here.
This sign totally gave me a chuckle! I guess 5 minutes is enough time to grab a candy bar and a pop. Unless the lines are really long!
Scenery
awesome Peterbilt… We saw several…I snapped a picture of this one…
If you are a farmer or a farmer’s wife… If you live in Kansas…
Then it is very likely that you have been to Bluestem. It is the Cadillac of farm supply stores.
all loaded up…
safely home…
NOTE: This picture was not taken till after the photographer fell into bed and slept for several hours!
Hmmm…can you tell we don’t get out much? A post about a Kansas daytrip?! 🙂
A couple of questions in closing…
Which would you happily hand over-cooking or cleaning?!
AND
We notice cool Peterbilts on our outings. What stands out to you when you’re out and about?
Target speaks to me too!
I would love to have someone clean my house thoroughly every week. But I totally understand why you say cook. You cook more meals than I do – my husband is gone all day at work and the kids pretty much fix their own lunch. So dinners are all I really do. I don’t clean much either – we just live in a dirty house!!!! LOL~!
Yep, the cleaning gets neglected here too! And don’t get me wrong-I wouldn’t turn down a house cleaner! It just looks like the lesser of the two… 🙂
Love Jill’s comment – we just live in a dirty house too! If I could just have someone come in and deep clean my bathroom and kitchen once a week, I’d be happy.
Sweet 389!
Thought you might like that!
And I don’t know that I notice anything when we’re driving around, lol. I like to look at architecture, though I don’t know anything about it. I especially like to look at it in the city.
