I’m pretty excited. Which is a way of mildly understating that I am very, very happy and if-I-could-actually-do-a-cartwheel, I would do several! Along with a few handstands and round offs. Gymnastics has never, never been my thing and at an-approaching-forty-age, it for sure isn’t. So, I’ll just do all the things in my head. The up side of this is, when you do them in your head, you can imagine a perfect, effortless and flawless routine, which is an absolutely cool thing. A Mary Poppins type. Except you don’t even need to snap your fingers. You just simply launch into the routine!
Alrighty. All that blather to express that I am excited because I finally upgraded my phone and I upgraded to a smartphone. I knew I’d love having one, but I’m loving it more than I even anticipated. I have several apps I’m super happy with and my grocery list is getting put right into my phone, so voila!! I’m still a paper and pen girl in a lot of ways, but I think there are going to be some super handy-dandy things about digital lists on my phone.
My old phone was……….old. I’d had a friend tell me several times that I really needed a new phone. Ha! I agreed with her. I just wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted. My phone quite often rejected incoming text messages from friends with smartphones who would send messages and include fun emojis in them. My phone was anti-emoji. I was quickly becoming anti-old-phone, as it’s sort of a pain to text people and say, “Your text didn’t come through. My phone hates emojis.” What’s the fun in that?! Come on, old phone! Emojis are fun!
I’d looked at phones a couple of times this summer and talked to Verizon employees and messaged them with a few questions. This week found me in the store again and this time I went for it!
Loving it. Knew I would. Sometimes I just have to deliberate. All in all, I’m glad for the timing and how it all worked out.
Now, tell me! If you are a smartphone user and lover, what are your favorite apps and tips and tricks?!! I’d love to hear.

1)KJV Holy Bible by Tecarta -I added the Strong’s Concordance so when a word is selected the definition, origin, and the usage are shown.
2)Pepperplate-I love having my recipes available on the phone. I use this for my shopping list. Ingredients from selected recipes can easily be added to the shopping list.
3)S Health – This tracks how many steps you take each day. When biking it shows an odometer & maps your route & speed. If walking you can map your route & time.
4)C.Geo-We use for geocaching. This helps get the children enthused for biking or hiking if they know there’s a geocache to find.
5)Bible For Kids-the children like to listen to & interact with the many stories.
6)StarWalk-We like being able to point the phone skyward to figure out which stars/planets we are seeing.
7)FlightAware-is great for checking if flights are on time.
These are a few frequently used ones. Of course I love being able to use it as a flashlight also. Enjoy your new phone.
How fun! Thanks for taking the time to share some of your favorites. It’s fun to hear what works for other people and what they use and like. I’ve been trying out some different aps for notes and shopping lists and figuring out what I like best.
