I started using this Gratitude Journal in July. And love it so much.
You can see pictures of it over in this post. It was a giveaway post. While the giveaway is over, you can still see the photos and read about the journal.
Each month features an area that enriches our lives. July’s category was Cultivating Beauty. There is so much truth in this. While there is a lot of life that is ugly or hurts, there is also a hugely, beautiful side to our world and lives. Many years ago, I started realizing how much I appreciated beauty and having not only practical, useful things in my home, but beautiful things, too. I started becoming more intentional about merging the two. It’s still an ongoing process. I am delighted when I find additions to my home that are functional and beautiful. Part of the reason I love my Lilla Rose flexis!
The category for August is the simple heading, Invest in Friendships. I noted it when I turned the page in the journal to August. As August is drawing to a close, I noted with happiness that during August, different opportunities for a few moments or a few hours with friends had worked out.
Everything from a quick text to interacting on social media to phone calls to lunch out. Good friends and shared hearts are a blessing and have very much blessed me.
I was thankful for a quick afternoon chat with a friend, while our kiddos played, an afternoon snack and movie with another friend, lunch hour with a friend, supper along with quick-catch-up chatting with an old and dear friend, and time with both my sisters-in-law this month. Throw in the arrival of one of my best friend’s new baby boy and a couple of hours spent visiting them and cuddling that precious little fellow!
I simply noted with appreciation that August definitely held its friendship moments and I was thankful.
My little family is important and have first priority and often schedules and days don’t always mesh for get-togethers with friends. There are times when I say no, because it would stretch me too thin or squeeze everything too tight. There are times when my friend’s schedule and calendar is booked.
So, the friendship moments and times that do fall in place are special and add meaning and connection.
I’ve been recently studying kindness in my True Woman 201 study. While I feel like the lesson has pretty much trounced me, I have loved the heart of it and the kindness God has bestowed and the kindness He can continue to cultivate and grow in me.
It also made me thankful as I thought about friendship, here in August, for kind friends and the many kindnesses they’ve done for me.
Just grateful.
