Indivisible
“INDIVISIBLE is based on the extraordinary true story of Army Chaplain Darren Turner and his wife Heather. With a strong, faith-filled marriage, the Turners are ready to follow their calling: serving God, family, and country. Fresh from seminary and basic training, Chaplain Turner and his family arrive at Fort Stewart. Yet before the Turners can even unpack their new house, Darren is deployed to Iraq. Heather is left taking care of their three young children alone as well as serving the families of the other deployed soldiers. Despite a desire to stay connected with their loved ones, the harsh realities of war take a daily toll over the course of the Battalion’s extended deployment. Meanwhile backhome, babies are born, kids keep growing, and nerves are frayed with every late-night knock on the door. With deeply etched battle scars, the soldiers’ long-awaited homecoming is much different than any of their families anticipated. Carrying burdens the other can’t comprehend, the Turners must decide if they’re willing to face one more battle: the fight to save their marriage. From the director of The Grace Card and the studio that brought you Fireproof and War Room comesINDIVISIBLE, the story of one marriage…one family…under God.
In theaters beginning October 26, the movie stars Sarah Drew, Justin Bruening, Jason George, Tia Mowry, and Madeline Carroll.”

I was able to watch this movie early and was glad I watched it. I always like reading life stories and watching movies based on life stories.
When we hear or see someone’s story, for a span of time, we step into their emotions and life experiences with them
There’s always a lesson or three to be learned from the seasons people have been through. The ups and downs, good times and hard, sorrow and suffering, joy and rejoicing, enduring and overcoming!
Here are three lessons or takeaways, I found myself mulling over after we watched this movie.
1. War wreaks havoc.
I know life will always hold evil and good until Jesus returns. There will always be a battle against wrongdoing. Soldiers are called on to combat evil leaders and injustice. Yet, war really does wreak havoc everywhere. On the country, on soldiers, on their families. This is what sin does. It’s ugly and it leaves behind scars.
2. Expecting God to do what we think He should, makes life all about us and what we deserve, and leaves no room for faith and trust in our lives.
This will undermine our faith, our relationships and blind us to the goodness of God. Oh, I’m not saying it’s easy. We all face hard questions and situations and we wonder, “Why?” But we can’t forget, God has a whole-world view from where He’s sitting! God is faithful, come what may.
3. Marriage requires commitment and sacrifice and choosing each other. Marriage requires sharing our hearts and staying connected.
Loving someone opens us up to the pain brought by sickness or death. When we love, we become more vulnerable. Yet, we would miss out entirely by shutting our hearts down to protect them from the pain of loss and good-byes. Once again, not easy. Many things aren’t. And once again, it points me right back to three words I’ve repeated to myself so very often in the last few years. Every Good Day. Find the good in every good day and cling to it and rejoice over it, because we know a day will come when these good days are only memories. One way or another. Dig in, enjoy this good day and love deep!
