It beckons.
Draws with magnetic pull.
Urges togetherness.
Lights twinkle soft and pink mixes together with gold, silver, cream, amber.
We gather in the room.
We bring books and knitting and hazelnut coffee laced with cream.
Miss Jackie sits outside, ears perked, eyes peering in the window.
We grin at her, sip coffee, gaze at the tree.
Wrapping hands around warmth, we’re reminded again, “Life will not always be as it is today.”
Gratitude for the here and now.
For simple ways to upgrade the everyday.
For hearth and home and people we love.

Jesus dwells in the midst every time.
Jesus, together with us, God with us.
Whether we’re carting in groceries or feeding cattle or delivering the post or soothing the toddler.
Find us singing carols or watching movies or playing Qwirkle.
In the 90% maintenance of life and the upside down days. The hard, hard hurts and the aching disappointment.
In the disasters and the chaos, even there, especially there, Jesus is weaving it all together, working, working in us, making all things new.
.
We cradle these thoughts in the light of our tree, in the dark of these waiting days of Advent. We cradle our coffee. We cradle each other’s hearts, clasp hands, commemorate together.
He is here. Emmanuel. God with us.
“This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.”
~ Ephesians 3:6
