I am in a Bible study group right now and we are working through the study “Believing God” by Beth Moore.
If you’ve ever done this study, this will sound very familiar.
There are five points we are memorizing and studying.
- God is Who He says He is.
- God can do what He says He can do
- I am who God says I am
- I can do all things through Christ
- God’s Word is alive and active in me
When we finish listing these five points, we end with the statement, “I’m believing God”. Amen!
We just watched the second viewer session and this week’s session and homework is focusedΒ on believing God is who He says he is. We went over three questions.
- Who do people say God is?
- Who do you say God is?
- Who does God say He is?
Beth used an illustration ofΒ a young girlΒ growing up. She used examples of different ages and different circumstances and different thingsΒ this girlΒ was taughtΒ that influenced her view of God. Till she was an adult, she had been influenced, even unknowingly sometimes, by mentors in her life to have a view of a god that was unwilling, unable, and uncaring. How she was influenced directly affected the view and beliefs she had of God.
As I pondered over all the food for thought I had been given, I felt overwhelmed with gratitude. The God I believe in and know is a big God. I am so thankful for parents that taught me to know a God that was awesome. A God that cares. A God that is able. A God that feels what I feel. A God that does what He says He will do. A God that is the only God. A God that is mighty. I am so deeply thankful that I was blessed with parents that believed in a mighty God and taught me to know Him. I am trusting that by my God’s power, my children will continue to believe in a big God, too. I truly believe that there is nothing to compare with a child’s faith. It is so simple and pure and true. It is so heartfelt. They simply believe and they trust God to do what He says He will do. They get it so much better than adults sometimes.
I am also truly thankful for men and women of God who have immersed themselves in the study of God’s Word and have blessed so many other people with their teachings. They have given countless hours praying and studying and searching the Scriptures. I have been so blessed by the different Bible studies I have worked through. Praise God for working actively through these men and women. All glory belongs to Him.
I am so blessed to live in America. My closets are full. My cupboards are full. I have extra blankets on shelves. I own too many shoes. I complain sometimes, yet have no reason too. I am blessedΒ with things. But, above and beyond that, without any of that, I am blessed.
I am blessed because I have a Savior and I know Him, and His Father is my God. He is the God of the universe and of each and every one.
Amen.Amen.Amen. To ALL of the above.
Very well said, Deborah! I need to be reminded of all five of these things often.
I agree. I need reminded often, too.
