The blind receive sight!
The lame! They can walk!
The deaf, they can hear.
The dumb, they can talk!
The white and dead skin,
From leprosy cured,
The good news is preached,
By the poor it is heard.
Oh, what of these things?
What does it all mean?
To what does it point?
These signs we have seen.
The dead they are raised.
Have you heard the news?
The lame leap like deer.
Shouts of joy from the mute!
Deaf ears unstopped.
Desert streams gushing forth.
Good news! Oh, good news!
The poor. They rejoice!
Go and tell John,
Give a detailed report.
Of each of these things.
Encourage his heart.
Because he has asked,
From his prison cell.
Is this who’s to come?
Or is it someone else?
The Good News preached,
And glorious things done,
The healing complete,
Because Jesus has come!
Who should we expect?
Who are we looking for?
Is this Man the One?
Our promised Savior?
Strength for feeble hands,
Weakened knees become strong,
Become steady and sure.
As the news spreads along!
Take heart! Do not fear.
To the fearful hearts say,
Jesus has come!
He is making the Way.
Our God, He will save!
He has purpose and plan.
to redeem all the lost,
Avenge every man.
Signs to show forth
Of the Promised One,
God’s Word is Fulfilled.
For Jesus has come!
Matthew 11:4-11
Isaiah 35:5-7
Then will the eyes of the blind be opened
and the ears of the deaf unstopped.
Then will the lame leap like a deer,
and the mute tongue shout for joy.
Water will gush forth in the wilderness
and streams in the desert.
The burning sand will become a pool,
the thirsty ground bubbling springs.
In the haunts where jackals once lay,
grass and reeds and papyrus will grow.
