It sure hasn’t felt like August around here! We’ve had some lovely cool days, cool temperatures, cool air! We’ve had windows open and it seems more like fall. I’m still not quite ready to let go of summer and succumb to a school schedule again. I do love the cool weather and open windows, but our summer has gone much too fast.
BUT, hello to school and to fast-approaching honest-to-goodness autumn. We faced the fact that we need to dig into new schoolbooks and plan to start in towards the end of this week.
Hello to the week flying by last week, yet we just did pretty ordinary things. Matthew needed to go to the city on Monday afternoon, so we all rode along and finished up our vacation by going and watching Planes and eating supper at Chick-Fil-A. Fun times! Good memories! I managed to get soaked by a lemonade spill~luckily we were headed home! And it’s the first time we’ve spilled a drink like that in this Suburban. Always a bright side!! We’ve talked about not having food or drinks in our nicer vehicle, but that doesn’t really work very well for us, so we just try to be careful and clean when we have to. It was my week to get soaked, I guess. Tuesday afternoon I was in the basement catching up on some bookwork and realized it had very-much clouded up and was starting to rain. I had laundry-that-had-been-dry out on the clothesline. I ran out to rescue it and ended up getting pretty much wet till I got it down. Guess it makes life interesting!
Speaking of memories, { a few sentences ago} I got to looking through some old photos yesterday. I didn’t have many pictures to go in this post and decided to stick in a couple of old photos of my kiddos. It’s no wonder I’m always feeling like time is flying by and the moments are slipping through our fingers. It really does!
Hello old photos and memories and sweet small people!
Such dear little faces to me!
Hello hanging flowerpot! I’ve enjoyed the flowerpots we’ve had this year. They add bright spots of color and cheer, even though I must remember to water them!
We unpacked and did laundry and house clean-up and cleaned out the Suburban and caught up {kind of} on some mowing. I did some blogging and on-line catch-up. We had visits with family-my sister-in-law and niece popped in with a birthday gift for me and I had a birthday gift for her too, since she has an August birthday. They also brought darling pictures for us, since baby niece is nine months old already! Mom came for a while Friday morning, while Mr. Matthew changed the oil in her car. Baby niece and both parents came back and ate with us yesterday.
Two more kittens went to a new home much to the kiddos dismay. But as we as parents explained, “We just can’t keep every. single. cat.”
I realized I managed to lose the cap to my camera lens on our trip. I can’t decide whether or no to be annoyed with myself. In some ways it seemed like I was always taking it off or putting it on, so now there’s only one option. On the other hand, it was nice to have it to help protect the lens.
Hello watermelon out of the garden! Renae wanted to plant watermelon this year. It’s been fun to go out and look for them among the vines. Except I’m pretty much clueless as to how you tell when they’re ripe. Hello to cantaloupe from Mom’s garden. I think it is a beautiful fruit, but I’ve never liked it. Matthew very much likes it and enjoys it, though.
Tucker went to the waterpark with a friend on Saturday and Matthew ended up being gone for the day, so we girls had the house to ourselves! We went through Renae’s schoolbooks and figured out a schedule for her and she sorted and organized her desk.
