Giants are no joke.
Forgetting who God says I am is the absolute amnesia.
Placing a guard at the entrance of my mind and card checking each thought coming to call is a practical these-are-the-facts safeguard.
Giants of shame, worthlessness, failure, overwhelm, angst, anguish, regrets, frustration, lovelessness, contemptuousness, lack of belonging, patheticness, accusations, pain, grief, frustration, hopelessness, sorrow, abandonment, less-than-ness, not mattering, ignored, cut down, bereaved, forsakeness, they Loom Large.
Their mighty shadows hold sway in the room. Their taunting snarls echo, re-echo. Not a shred of compassion or kindness or empathy or grace do they carry.
They cause my amnesia to go tilt-a-whirl crazy. Spinning. Spinning. Spinning. Reminding. Accusing. Sneering. Breathing dragonesque. Bold and domineering.
I easily believe them and agree and most often, add to the accusations.
This is no humility. This is no confessing. This is shame and guilt in finest form, in costumed evil fighting against my true formation in my Jesus Christ and Who He Names Me To Be.

This is why in C.S. Lewis’ Narnia, we love Aslan so much.
Aslan comes to rescue, redeem, renew, set things right. We can feel it, sense it.
His abiding presence. His very real love. His huge heart of amazing grace.
He is there to take out the giants. To set a guard. To reclaim those whose names He knows. To push back the darkness.
“Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,
At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more,
When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death,
And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.”
~ C.S. Lewis
Live Loved, comrades. You are chosen, righteous, and redeemed. We are so incredibly delighted in and loved by Jesus.
Beth Moore said it like this recently ~ “This ends so well. We walk straight into the presence of Jesus. This really ends beautifully. No matter what happens here, this turns out extremely well.”
Yes indeed!
Every giant vanquished. Every wound healed. Every rift mended.
