A prayer for this day, this month of December ~
Our Lord God ~ Adonai Elohim
Your word tells us the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. We sit in darkness on these long winter evenings and we long for This Light to make a way in our weary world.
We pray, Father, for you to ease the burdens of the hurting, soothe the ache of the mourning, give calm to the anxious, bring hope in the morning.
Offer rest for the working, truth against the darkness of falsity, wisdom for the seeking, food to fill the hungry.
Bring peace among people, compassion in suffering, and a gentleness to blot out bitterness.
Where heaviness sits, may Light embrace. Where worthlessness worms its insidiousness, sow the power of freedom in the Light come down. Where lies try to compel our minds, rain renewal and resonance to the Light.
We pray healing for disease and disaster and desolation.
We pray your goodness, come what may.
You saw us then. You see us now.
Your unfailing love and light reaches from generation to generation.
Most of all, we praise You, Adonai Elohim. We thank you for sending a Savior. The Light. We thank you for letting us see it. See Him.
Amen and Amen
