May this year shine bright with light and delight,
With rest and good cheer and peace and hope near,
With comfort in grief, with faith for belief,
With a friend and a song,
When the road becomes long.
May encouragement come at the very right time,
And strength be renewed for each mountain we climb,
May sun warm your face and shine warm rays of grace,
When weariness wins, rest wrap you again,
Breathe deep into bones and ease every groan.
May despair and defeat lose the battle they wage,
May we be released from anxiety’s cage,
May trust conquer fear, a banner o’er all,
May love be renewed with beauty and awe.
May you know goodness and kindness and truth,
May glory show up in all that you do,
May suffering be eased and happiness seized,
And the burden you bear quite disappear.
May Jesus be ever the name we run to,
Our welcoming Shepherd guiding us through,
Forming, Becoming, Making all the things new,
He delights in our presence, in all that we do.
May we feel His love and live right into it,
Step into each Chapter as He writes us in it,
And know with a knowing beyond who we are,
Of the mercy and grace from our personal Savior.
