Sometimes this ole world feels like such a noisy, messy, scary place and I don’t think I can take one more story or hear any more bad news or listen to the fussing or watch the greediness and selfishness and hear about the evils and atrocities. Whether across the globe or inside my own community or looking inside my heart at my own failures and fears. I don’t even follow the news that closely, but world events can’t be completely ignored. Even though I think newscasters really can’t be trusted and they twist and embellish and cast things in the light most advantageous to sin and a world in confusion. Evil is abounding and Satan is so very mean.
Sometimes I don’t want anyone to tell me one more thing. Ranging from hurts and heartache in personal worlds to death and destruction on a wide-range world front. Satan is so very mean.
I was struck with this thought at the beginning of the week after reading a story of heartache and disappointment and hearing about a situation causing confusion and strained relationships.
Satan is so very mean.
But then I thought about what my Bible tells me and what my Lord Jesus Christ tells me.
Satan is so very mean, but HE IS NOT GOING TO WIN. Ever.
Sometimes it might feel like it here on earth from the viewpoint inside my human frailty.
But, big picture, NEVER!!! He loses. Big time.
Jesus told this to his disciples right before He suffered and died and rose again and conquered:
Jesus responded to them, “Do you now believe? Look: An hour is coming, and has come, when each of you will be scattered to his own home, and you will leave Me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”
He tells me too. Peace in Him. Trouble in this world. But He is bigger.
And Paul tells us this in Romans
If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
Promises and peace and power from the word of God!
And from the hymn Tell Me the Old, Old Story
Tell me the same old story when you have cause to fear
That this world’s empty glory is costing me too dear.
Yes, and when that world’s glory is dawning on my soul,
Tell me the old, old story: “Christ Jesus makes thee whole.”

I love that hymn. What a great reference for today’s prompt
So true! God is good all the time. All the time God is good.
