Here I am, Lord ~ me ~ and the page and my pen and my heart and my words to pour out to You — thank-you, Lord, that I never have to wait for You to show up. I just must show up and You’re ready to settle in with me and listen. Thank you, Lord, for listening, because for me, listening to others isn’t one of my strongest points. But You’re never too busy or too rushed or too distracted or too in-demand somewhere else.
.
Your cell phone never interrupts, You never shift Your weight or glance over at someone more appealing to talk to. You don’t think of something you need to jot on a grocery list or look up a question on Google or remember a reminder you needed to send. You don’t need to go change out the laundry or make the bed or set the bread. You’re ready to break the bread to me and speak rest and quietness and cease-the-striving to my heart.
.
And I’m the one easily distracted, remembering this, thinking of that. And it’s mostly good stuff ~sending my friend a happy day text matters ~ and sometimes it’s something You’ve laid on my heart or brought to my mind. But sometimes it’s only distractions and You wait patiently.
.
And I want to say Thank-You. Thank-you for always being there. Thank-you for hearing me in prayer. Thank-you for Your care and THAT You care!
.
Thank-you for this life You’ve given me with all its to-dos and even distractions. With all the lists and all the fun and all that is delightful to carry us through the upside-downs and pit-in-the-stomach and all-out-grief.
.
Thank-you for Your Great, Big Loving-ness that I can’t EVEN come close to comprehending!!!

Ezra 7:10 ~ Now Ezra had determined in his heart to study the law of the Lord, obey it and teach its statues and ordinances to Israel.
