Lightning flickers in the wee hours of dark and splays a light show across our curtained bedroom window. Thunder rumbles deep in the distance and raindrops echo off of eaves.
Blinking sleepy eyes, I roll over, listen, lean against my good farmer man, and let slumber beckon me back.
The spring storm splatters its wind and rain and noise, but inside we sleep, sheltered and warm, despite the elements.
This morning we wake to beauty. Washed fresh, wheat sparkles with iridescent droplets. It’s backdropped by brilliant blue of canvas sky and finished off with cloud creations.
Glorious.
Birds can’t contain their song and breezes dance ever-so-slightly with joy for this new day.
Coffee perks. Screen door slams. Sunshine shines.
Peace Beyond the Storm.
It Reminds Me.
Babies arrive after intense, painful labor.
Buildings arise through long days and hard labor.
Meals prepared again and again as a labor of love.
Fields sown for future expectations.
Heartbrokeness endured through the night and rejoicing arriving with the morning.
Salvation acquired after immense suffering and shame on a cross.
Painful processes. Investment of time. Questions and doubts. Weeping and wondering.
It Reminds Me.
Tranquility comes after turmoil.
Faith battles through the fear.
Assurance displaces anxiety.
Praise fends off perplexities.
Abiding overcomes angst.
Depending dispels doubt
Praying curtails pressures.
The Word wards off worry.
Singing silences stress.
Delight shows us the shine of new day.
It Reminds Me.
Storms don’t stay forever.
Psalm 107:28-31 ~
“Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distress.
He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.
They were glad when it grew calm, and He guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind.”
