One year in the land of Kansas, there was very little rain. Not much AT All. The wheat grew despite the dry and did its very best, because it is hardy and made to grow despite harsh conditions. Still, though it grew, it was thin and short as it ripened and turned gold.
And then the skies and clouds that wouldn’t bring rain earlier in the spring, began to produce different weather systems and drop down much needed rain in large quantities. And, thus, the weeds began to grow. Also, in large quantities!! Large and green, growing up through the short, thin wheat and causing new challenges and difficulties to the farmers who were wanting to harvest the wheat. So, began a cycle of spraying wheat before it could even be harvested. And thanks, much thanks, breathed for every acre that was harvested before the rains set in.
In the meantime, the stubble fields sprouted forth in weed after weed after weed, all green and growing and flourishing extremely well. And a farmer-at-heart loves himself a nice, clean, well-worked field. And he likes to get into the field at an opportune time, dry enough to work, yet before the ground gets hard, like it can do so easily!
And a certain Kansas farmer’s wife said, “Take some pictures of the weeds. Because I haven’t been out to the field with my camera and I want some pictures of these weeds, so we can remember.” So, the farmer man obliged her with photos from his phone. {His phone that will take photos and text, but continually drops phone calls. Seriously!!! It’s a phone. Supposed to be.}
And this farmer also worked up a few weeds. And the farmer’s wife was happy to find the photos in her inbox, so she could put them on her blog.
The producibility of this earth is amazing!
Then God said, “Let the earth produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds.” And it was so. The earth produced vegetation: seed-bearing plants according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. Evening came and then morning: the third day.
And to the man God said,
“Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree
whose fruit I commanded you not to eat,
the ground is cursed because of you.
All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.
It will grow thorns and thistles for you,
though you will eat of its grains.
By the sweat of your brow
will you have food to eat
until you return to the ground
from which you were made.
For you were made from dust,
and to dust you will return.”
