I come across these verses this week and I have to laugh a little.
Psalm 38:7 “My back is filled with searing pain; and there is no health in my body.”
Psalm 38:17 “For I am about to fall, and my pain is ever with me.”
I pen them in my journal from @wellwateredwomen.
It’s been all too true for me the last 4+ years. Pain and back and stumbling and falling.
Never did my “dream vision” & idealistic bent for life, pen back pain into the equation.
Who of us would?
If we had to choose a struggle of some sort, how would we?
What would I rather deal with? Back pain, constant headaches, food allergies, cancer, loss of a limb, blindness, paralytic, broken marriage, depression, rheumatoid arthritis…the list is endless. I think about my perchance for tripping and falling and I back up to Psalm 38:9″All my longings lie open before you, O Lord: my sighing is not hidden from you.”
I text it to a couple of friends walking through hard things.
“Made me tear up a little,” my friend replies.
I back up further to the beginning of verse 7, Psalm 37 “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.”
Yes. Because God’s got it.
Whatever our struggle or issue is. God’s got it.
I recently read this mantra in Love Idol by @dukeslee and the reminder keeps stirring inside me.
And this morning, like my friend, I tear up as I read this verse, Jude 24 {emphasis mine} “Now to Him who is able to protect you from STUMBLING & to make you STAND in the presence of His glory, WITHOUT BLEMISH, and with GREAT JOY, to the only God our Savior, JESUS CHRIST our Lord, be glory, majesty, power and authority before all time, now and forever! Amen.”
Without blemish. By His power.
Inside and out.
Tears trickle, because so often those tricky, taunting voices point out all my blemishes and all the ways I’ve blown it.
Oh, the power of His presence! Pain gone. Steadiness instead of stumbling. Songs instead of sighs. Joy in Jesus!
“But you, DEAR FRIENDS, as you build yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting EXPECTANTLY for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life!” Jude 20, 21

It’s comforting to know God knows all of me, even when I’m sighing about any pain in life. And that He cares deeply about it all. He is so good!
