There was a fort in my backyard a few weeks ago.
My kids had a great time building it and playing in it. They are quite creative at dragging things from all corners and creating something they want to play in. It doesn’t look like much from some standpoints, but they don’t care. Being a kid is so carefree and they usually don’t even realize it.
They decided one night that they wanted to sleep in their fort. So, they took sleeping bags and blankets and pillows and crowded in. And the kittens crowded in too!
The above picture shows their woodpile..

So, they settled in for the night. I didn’t hear anything out of them till about 3 a.m. when my son came in and hit the couch. The next morning I found out they rather played musical beds. They didn’t last real long in the fort. Not a big surprise, because, well, the fort wasn’t exactly big itself and there were a lot of kittens coming and going.
They moved to the trampoline. My son went to sleep. My daughter didn’t. She couldn’t get settled. She came into the back room and made a bed with her sleeping bag. That didn’t work either, so she finally ended up going upstairs to her bed. I didn’t hear any of her prowling around. It did get fairly chilly outside that night and I imagine it did feel good to come inside to bed. Of course, I would think that, because it would not have appealed to me to go sleep outside in the first place. I was quite glad to retire to my comfy bed instead of dragging my sleeping bag out to a fort.
But when you’re young it is so fun and exciting to drag your sleeping bag out to a fort that you built!

I absolutely love the pics. Could you give the 2 fort builders a big hug for me?
