It has a free app to download. Then, scan it and interact with the book and Bible stories. I think it’s a fun idea!

We’ve always enjoyed books in our home and I loved having a variety when my kiddos were little. They also had Leap pads when they were young and loved the stories and sounds in them. As they grew older and began reading on their own, my kids enjoyed Tin-tin and graphic historical novels. The pictures and colors in this Bible story book remind me of graphic novel type pictures and of Leap pad type interaction. I like the bright colors and I like the emotions depicted on the characters.

I tried out the app and it is fun. Basically, you hold your phone or device above the story page and let it scan it. Once it picks up the page, it will animate one or a few characters. Tap on the characters on your screen and they speak. For example, in the photo above of Zechariah and Elizabeth, when I scan the first page and touch Elizabeth, she says, “My little John.” The woman with her says, “The Lord is gracious.” On the next page, Zechariah says, “His name is John” while it makes sounds like he is writing. The man with him says, “Amazing!” I think many littles would be excited to read the story and see what the characters on each page were going to do or say!

I think a tablet might work better than a phone, because of the bigger screen. It took me just a bit  to juggle holding my phone right over the page and hold it steady to touch the characters. HOWEVER, when reading to the children in your life, you could hold the phone and they will want to do the touching of the characters themselves, so I think it would work out splendidly! 🙂
