Summertime.
The name offers a vision of hot, sunny days, ice-cold lemonade in a sweating glass, fun with friends, curling up in the hammock, reading a book, woven lawn chairs, fresh garden produce, long, lazy days, splashing in the water…
I hear the sounds of summer. Sprinklers zinging. Locusts humming. Mowers running.
The smell of chlorine from the pool makes me think summertime.
The feel of the intense heat beating down from overhead and radiating up from the ground or sidewalk.
It all says summertime!
Aaah, yes, sweet strawberry pie, you speak summertime!
Fieldwork in the summer
Splish-splash splashing with a fun floatie when the temps are topping out above a hundred degrees! What else could it mean but good, ole summertime?
Salty summer snacks!
Hangin’ out with friends! No school! Yay-it’s summertime!

Those pies look scrumptious! Farm-fresh strawberries are ‘over’ now out here, just when I actually have time to put some in the freezer 🙁 Guess I missed them this spring… maybe I’ll get some in in October. Hope you have a happy summer!

I love the look of a pie before it is cut!
We don’t have farm fresh strawberries, but Dillons gets some pretty good ones! 🙂 I remember eating strawberries in CA, and they were SO good!

One other sound of summer—–humming of the A/C. That’s one this pansy stays close to!! Especially when the thermometer is showing 103! Love your pics.

You are so right! I am so thankful for the humming of the A/C! I won’t be so thanful for the electric bill when it arrives! 🙂

over 100 here – can’t say I mind it! I’d much prefer this over winter! My kids just headed off down the street to the ‘ice-cream place’ down on the corner. I’m blogging. With my feet kicked up and a fan blowing the cold a/c from the girls room into my room! Dinner plans tonight – outside – hope we don’t melt! But yay for wearing flip flops instead of scarves and boots and freezing in the icy wind! I’ll take you 100+ temps!!

Being blessed with A/C and having a place where we can splash and cool off makes the 100+ temps not that bad!

Sounds like a deal! 🙂 These pies were easy since I had the pie crust already made and in the freezer. Next time will require making crusts too!

I guess if no one else will say it I will. SWEET TRACTOR!!
deborah says
🙂 I’m thinking that my blog might not hold a huge appeal to the male population!!! And we females don’t notice things like tractors quite as much.
I notice tractors and Peterbilts much more than I did fifteen years ago, but still not to the degree that my husband does!
