My wheat farmer husband shared this article with me this week from The Midwest Producer. We found out early this year that he has Celiac disease, meaning gluten-free for him.
So ironic. We love our wheat.
The article is about a woman who grew up on a wheat farm and still lives and works at farming. She was diagnosed with Celiac as a young adult in college.
The article stated, Melissa Clark is a one-of-a-kind wheat farmer in a love-hate relationship. Her heart loves wheat, but her body hates gluten.
“I think it’s funny that I’m kind of a wacky contradiction,” said Melissa. “I wear my ‘I heart gluten’ shirt and everyone is really confused.
It was so nice to have someone to relate to. Even if just in an article.
I think I’m going to get my farmer man an ‘I love gluten’ t-shirt!
I’m learning new things and trying to chalk it all up as a new experience.
BUT, I still miss my Hudson Cream flour and gluten-free baked things just crumble more than my old favorites. I’ve recently discovered a couple of blogs with a lot of really yummy looking and sounding gluten-free recipes. I’ve pinned a few and plan to continue to peruse them.
Still knitting a bit on dishcloths. Not much else in my knitting world! 🙂
I’ve been reading this e-book on my phone. The Art of Work by Jeff Goins. I like Jeff Goins’ words.
And still reading my books from last week and the week before and maybe before and maybe before…. 🙂 🙂
Come back tomorrow for a book giveaway!
It POURED rain on us yesterday afternoon.
Thunderstormed.
Rained.
Poured.
Hailed.
My poor sweet corn is quite shredded and wind-torn.
We finished cutting our wheat Monday evening and we are so fervently thankful!

That is ironic! I don’t know what I would do! I’m such a picky eater already….

I was always so grateful that our family didn’t have food allergies!!! 🙂
BUT, like anything in life, you adjust and learn.
And I’m thankful we have doctors to help figure things out and help my man feel better.
Happy weekend!
{We can be rather picky eaters around here, too.}

Glad you got your wheat out ahead of that storm. Does your family use probiotics. May help with the gluten issue. I use Plexus products and they have a good probiotic.

Oh, we are so glad about the wheat too! Thank-you!
Yes, my husband has been taking probiotics and a couple of other things. Thanks for your suggestion! 🙂

Well, that is unfortunate. OTOH, it is good that modern science can isolate this problem so it can be dealt with. I “heart” gluten, too.

YES! We are so thankful for doctors to help my man feel better!
There are always silver linings among the dark clouds! Thank-you.
