Linking up with Carole ~
Did you have a good weekend? We did. It was busy, but good. Our whole week last week kept us hopping. And as I’m wont to do, I was crazy enough to say, “Let’s have some people over on Sunday evening!” It was great fun; I’m just good at having ideas when we’re already busy enough. Ha!
I suppose that makes my number one thing as “Having Friends Over” on my list of ten today! Our topic is Ten Things We Did Over the Weekend.
SO.
1. We had friends over. This gave me opportunity to dig in and do some cleaning that I needed to anyway and make a slab pie I was wanting to try! {Pie post to come. It was fun!} I scrubbed my kitchen floor on my hands and knees. It felt monumental. I’ve done it here and there, but it has been a really long time since I’ve felt like doing it and haven’t had pain or have even been able to. I keep getting struck with these realizations. I’m learning how much you live life and you deal with things and you really don’t realize you are.
2. I tried a copycat recipe for gluten-free Hawaiian rolls. I thought they turned out quite delicious! Hooray! Find them here. I used brown rice flour instead of white rice, because I didn’t have white rice flour.
3. I took time to feed my flowerpots with Miracle-Gro.
4. I swam. Lovely!! So refreshing.
5. We watched fireworks, of course! Our city sets off fireworks by the lake pretty much every year. Lots of spectators bring their own and set them off, so it’s rather crazy and a bit red-necky! 🙂
6. I ate watermelon. I hadn’t bought one yet this year and it seems like a good fourth-of-July food!
7. I cut out cheese stars. Little food and/or shapes are such fun!
8. I left my bed totally unmade all day on the fourth. It felt good to be lazy. I almost always make my bed and it sort of bugs me to see it unmade. Yesterday, we were pretty laidback all day and it felt so good. {And such a rebel to not make the bed!} heehee! I recently read a list of a few things one author doesn’t do. Making her bed was one of her things. It’s not a priority to her and she doesn’t use her time for that. I enjoyed reading and thinking about things we do or don’t do. Our time is limited and I think it’s a good thing to figure out how we want to spend it and what enriches our lives and blesses others. I totally don’t care if other people make or don’t make their bed. It makes me personally happy to make mine and put pretty pillows on it and walk in my room and see things I love.
9. I swooned over the shirt my daughter made for herself for the fourth. I’m so impressed. {Yes, I’m the mama, so OF COURSE.} It fascinates me to see her creations. It’s so fun. They’re different than the things I would do. She definitely gets her sewing talent from my sister. SO FUN!!!
10. We had rain and I rode around with Mr. Farmer Man to check ground and see how wet or dry it was.
I was going to listen to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” and kept forgetting. Perhaps today!
What did you do? I hope you got to relax and spend time with people you love!

What a fantastic and fun weekend! I am looking forward to the pie post!
We did have a good weekend. I hope you did too! 🙂
