Good morning! I have several books and a couple of projects and one book in particular and a GiVeaWaY for a copy of it, for you today!
If you are a deep-in-your-bones reader, if books make you happy, if reading is part of your life without even THiNKiNG of questioning it….then the title of this beautiful, little book will make you smile big!
I’d Rather Be Reading : The Delights and Dilemmas of the Reading Life by Anne Bogel. Anne is commonly known around the internet by her blog name, Modern Mrs. Darcy.
Yesterday was release day and this book is available wherever books are sold!! 🙂 AND that’s why we’re celebrating with a giveaway for a copy of this lovely book at the end of this post.
Hooray! You’ll find more info and the website for this book right here.
I loved reading this book and it made me happy! I am already looking forward to re-reading it. {the BEST kind}
Chapter 10 titled, “Bookworm Problems” is one of my favorite chapters and had me nodding my head and laughing out loud.
I also loved hearing pieces of Anne Bogel’s story and reading life and the formative years she spent living next door to the library.
As someone who has always loved reading the acknowledgements in a book, I totally absorbed Chapter 13 titled, “Keep Reading” where Anne talks about the insight and perspective you can pull out about an author through the acknowledgements they write.
Anne Bogel often shares this quote from Kathleen Kelly in “You’ve Got Mail”. As it sums my feelings up perfectly about this book, I’ll share it here….. “Read it! I know you’ll love it!”
Here’s what else I’m currently opening covers on.
Miracles by Eric Metaxas
You’ve Got This (because God’s got you) by KariAnne Wood ~ this is a 52 week devotional and it’s packed full of encouragement and inspiration and moments that have me nodding my head and saying, “Me too!” {This spring, I listed this devotional and “I’d Rather Be Reading” over in this post about books I was excited about coming out this year.
Surprised by Joy by C.S. Lewis ~ I’m just beginning this book. Have you read it?
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin ~ I’ve long seen Gretchen Rubin’s books, but have only recently read them and I’ve been tearing through them all!
In a Pit With a Lion on a Snowy Day ~ by Mark Batterson
I’d love to hear if you’ve read any of these and what you thought!
Here’s a project of mine! I have a friend turning 40 in September and she and I share a mutual love for a delicious Pepsi on ice, on occasion. I numbered and decorated 40 cans of Pepsi with stickers! {It was fun!} Then, when she was away from home, I slipped over and hid the Pepsis randomly throughout her kitchen cupboards, laundry and living area for a fun surprise and scavenger hunt! 🙂
My poor knitting needles have been gathering dust. I did pull out some more yarn for another dishcloth, but I haven’t started it. I’ve certainly enjoyed using my bright green dishcloths from last month! They were a perfect bright spot for summer!
Look at this little, baby pallet my farmer man brought home to me! Hit me with ideas! I’ve been turning around ideas for a project using it. I think it could be adorable to paint it and letter a word or verse on it!

Writer friends……..I want to insert this message for you……….
If you’ve ever been interested in a writer’s group, you might consider hope*writers. They only open their doors a few times a year and will be opening them September 10th. I joined hope*writers this spring and I’m grateful for this group of dynamic people!
Here’s a PDF of questions and answers our hope*writer leaders have put together, if you’re interested.
If you’re a writer or have ever thought about writing a book, you probably have more questions than you can keep track of –
“How do I find time to write?”
“Who am I to call myself a writer?”
“What’s the secret to getting my writing published?”
“What platform do publishers consider most important?”
“How do I know if I’m ready for an agent?”
Wouldn’t it be nice to have the answers to questions like that all in one place?
Well, my author friend Emily is a co-founder of hope*writers, and to teach their members they interview dozens of writing and publishing experts every year. They’ve compiled the best answers to the most asked questions and put it in one simple free pdf download.
It’s short, super helpful, and it ends your random google searches.
Expert Answers to the Top 20 Questions Writers Ask is only available for a couple of days – grab your copy here!
hope*writers does have a monthly fee and if you purchase and join through my affiliate link, I receive a commission. I’ve loved being part of this group, affiliate or not! 🙂 {and if you use my affiliate link, thank-you from the bottom of my heart……..and welcome!!!}
One more book and Bible study I want to quickly mention! I’m currently on the launch team for this book. AND I’m excited about reading it!
It’s All Under Control by Jennifer Dukes Lee
Find pre-order specials and entry form right here!
First, if you would like to join the Busy to Best challenge to go along with this book, it is running for ONE week in September. Sign-ups and orders for this have a deadline of September 16. If you would like to join, don’t delay! Hop over here to find out more and sign up to join! You may do this challenge by yourself or ask a friend to join you or gather a group of ladies who would like to aspire to a bit slower pace of what we call busy!
I believe it is a blessing to have things to do, but for me, personally, I do not thrive without some slow days and time and pauses. A frantic of busy propels me towards exhaustion and panic. Anyone else?
IF you join in, and you’re doing it by yourself, there is a facebook group everyone is welcome to join and participate in!
There’s also a Bible study and it is different from the book. Jennifer Dukes Lee is offering free videos to accompany the study!
Lots of book chit-chatter today! Don’t forget to enter the giveaway for a copy of “I’d Rather Be Reading”! You won’t be sorry! {in my opinion, of course!!!} 😉
{or if you can’t wait, it is available to order and I’ve seen several people finding it at their Barnes & Nobles or other local bookseller!}
