So, we’ve lived in our new-to-us house for about a year and a half.
Soooo, that means the homemaker of this house started eyeing this room and that room and thinking about how this or that might work better or make an area flow better.
The homemaker also had compiled a list of a few deeper cleaning chores and deep cleaning often leads to re-arranging for Mrs. Farmwife. Sometimes simple decor re-arranging and sometimes whole room re-arranging.
Some of these changes were inspired once we had our someday kitchen installed on the main floor. Having our kitchen on the main floor instead of using the basement led to our laundry room traffic patters changing. You can read about it in this post. This led to the homemaker eyeing this room with her thinking cap sitting loosely askew her head.
The shoes that used to mostly be in the basement were gravitating towards the laundry room. A handy place for sunglasses, keys, a few tools, and sundry items would be a good idea. What could she try? What small changes would offer some storage solutions?
So she shopped around the house and found a few things to try and also decided to give the ironing board a new home. There was no reason it needed to hang out in the laundry and it might actually work better to move it into the guest room/sewing area. So, rearranging commenced.
The homemaker’s father had also inspired an idea for the laundry area with a simple comment made, just as they were saying good-byes and preparing to return to the east, back in the summer. He mentioned a toy car they had and that the up-high-close-to-the-ceiling-but-open-space in our laundry would be a good place to display it. The homemaker was struck with this observation and it made her think about some toys and old things she had. She liked this collection of odds and ends “stuff” but it was all just stuck away. She decided to dig out some of these old things, with memories attached, and display them up above. So she did. And she liked it. None of it means much to anyone visiting, but it is dear to the homemaker of this house. And while some people can totally label their decor style as vintage or Victorian or modern, this homemaker would label her style something like, “It Speaks to Me” or “A Hodge-Podge Of What I Like.” It goes along with one of her favorite quotes that she recently quoted in this blog post about having things in your home that you LOVE or USE.
So all these different ideas and things to try out turned into working and rearranging and taking pictures and finally into a blog post, so her Mother could have a glimpse. {The laundry is a little hard for the homemaker to get photographs of that she thinks are very good, but oh well.}
And then this sign! Many different styles and even sayings, but I’ve long loved this particular list and it found a perfect home on the laundry wall right by the back door. It definitely falls in the category of Things I Love.
There you have it! This commences our homemaker’s post of laundry room and rearranging!
What do you have in your home that you especially love?

This looks great! I love how everything has a place and coordinates nicely. My laundry room needs a huge makeover but it also serves as our garage/extra storage room since we have neither. I’m always looking for ideas. Thanks for sharing yours!

So fun to see all your rearranging. Love the memories those toys bring back. It will be fun to see it for real sometime.
Can’t wait for you to visit again! At least I got the post up before you were back! heehee!
