I like Gala to eat, but have never tried them for sauce. 

Do you cook the apples in your crockpot? How long?  A friend just mentioned that she used her electric roaster turned low overnight. I&#039;m thinking these are both good ideas, because you could have a lot of apples ready to process at once.

I&#039;ve dipped apple slices in lemon juice before to prevent browning. Never used it in applesauce though. I don&#039;t think mine really changes colors in the freezer or gets brown, but I probably don&#039;t notice things like that like some people would. I don&#039;t really remember it changing a lot when I canned it either, but it has been a while since I canned instead of froze! :)]]></description>

That&#039;s pretty handy to have fruit trees readily accessible to you! I don&#039;t know for sure what kind of apples these were either, but the sauce is delish!
