I remember picking up the magazine and leafing through it. When I saw them, I knew my daughter would love them and I knew what I wanted to put on her Christmas list. She wasn’t even three years old yet, but I knew.
Fisher-Price Little People. I remembered playing with the little house and barn that we had and the hours of imagination and fun we had when we were children. {I still love the old toys. But I love children’s toys.}
I knew she would like them because they were small and they were her size. Just right to hold in chubby hands and pretend with. My daughter loved little things from the time she herself was little. She would set things up in the living room, on the old coffee table that had belonged to my husband’s parents. She would pull up the little chair that was mine when I was little and she would play and play.
Or she would flop on the floor amongst her set up or find a corner to put everything into for whatever imagination at that time.
She spent hours with Little People and Pollys and Playmobil, though she was quite a bit older before we discovered Playmobil. Once again, I knew she would love the Playmobil toys and all the tiny bits and pieces.
The wonder and fun of creating and playing with a world of little.
Does God view us the same way? Our smallness in comparison to His greatness. We sing “He’s got the whole world in His Hands…” But do I comprehend the awesomeness and greatness of the picture behind those words? I don’t. I know I don’t. Yet, I believe He’s got me and He sees me and He hears me when I cry out because the world feels so big and problems loom and cares encumber.
He knows me through and through, just the way I knew my daughter would love those little toys. And so amazing! So completely uncomprehendable! It’s not just me, but every single person in this world, every single person in His creation, He knows!! Hallelujah!
US. So small. Just little people.
God. So big. Holding all His little people in His hands.
