Fruit Cups!
It wouldn’t be harvest time without frozen fruit cups in the freezer. They’re a pantry freezer staple during the summertime and wheat harvest around here.
I have tried different recipes in the past. Anymore, I don’t really follow an exact recipe. I have a basic form and just add and dump and use whatever I have or whatever Dillons has on sale.
Today, I used the following:
Ingredients
- 2 - 29 oz cans of peaches
- 1 - 20 oz can of crushed pineapple
- 3 bananas
- 1 - 16 oz package of fresh strawberries
- 16 oz of 7-Up
- 1 - 12 oz frozen 100% juice concentrate, thawed(mine today was kiwi-apple-strawberry)
- 6 oz water
- 1/2 cup sugar
Instructions
Blend fruit in blender and combine. If you prefer chunks of fruit, skip the blender.
Dip into cups and freeze! Enjoy on a hot 110 degree day.
If you have a wheat field to eat them in, it makes them taste even better! 🙂
Notes
You can also use frozen strawberries and omit the 7 up and sugar and add a bit more juice or water. Really, you can tweak it however you want!
My family has decided that we like fruit cups that are blended better than fruit cups that have big chunks of fruit. Therefore, I blended all my fruit. Well, my daughter blended some of it for me! We blended, mixed, and poured. Then we dipped them, lidded them and transferred them to the freezer to transform from mere fruit cups into frozen fruit cups!
They’re so easy and make a great snack for my kiddos. They’re also super nice to take to the harvest field for harvest suppers!
Do you have a favorite fruit cup recipe?
I have another one that I like really well that uses strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Yum! I’m going to have to dig that recipe out!

i would like to have your other recipe you mentioned with the raspberries if you don’t mind sharing it. I’m thinking I might have to try both and see which the kids like the best…….I’ve never had much luck on them liking these kind of things but never saw a recipe with 7-up……they might like that:) i need something for the summer that is “good” for them.
Yes, you can have the recipe! I will try to remember to dig it out! My kids definitely like the blended cups better than the chunky ones!
I would like the recipe with berries too. I will have to give this one a try. The recipe my aunt gave me is delicious (no berries, had mixed fruit with cherries, pineapple, orange juice, bananas, etc) but my boys don’t care for it. Is this consistency the way you make it more like slushy applesauce?
I think my Grandma’s recipe was very similar to your aunts.
I don’t think the consistency would be as thick as applesauce. My kids just like it a lot better without big chunks and I would agree with them. It’s just a lot easier to eat the fruit cup when you don’t run into a hard chunk of frozen banana that you can’t get dug out!! 🙂
And you can seriously tweak the recipe however you want. Basically you just need fruit and juice and can do whatever you want for either!
